I am curious more than anything. Changing barrels on an AE is pretty easy. You take it out of the chassis and spin off the barrel.

What I am wondering is WHY you have to remove it from the chassis. Recoil lug, maybe?

Like I said, currious more than anything. It really is not a big deal to do, but it would be nice if it were a couple of steps that I could avoid.

The recoil lug is your front action mounting surface within the chassis. On the AE, barrel change has to go in the following sequence:
-remove skins
-remove action screws
-remove barrel action from chassis
-standard barrel change procedures from here.

Upon reinstallation, just like the AICS, recommend a Loc-Tite 242 applied to the action screws, you will snug forward and rear action screws, then torque as required.

Hope this helps, good question and need assistance, you know where I am, thanks.

We will have more information on the new barrels, calibers and options on the AE and others at the booth at Shot Show, so stop by and check it all out. See you there and safe travels.
