Chart comparison

Has anyone come up with a chart for comparison. What I’m looking for is say shooting a 22LR at 200yards on a 4” target is like shooting a center fire at 750 yards on a 6” target. I know my description to yards and target size is probably way off. With that said has anyone figured this out yet. I’d really like a comparison to help practice with.

my dope at 250 yds with wolf match is 9.1 mills. my .308 using 168 gr at 2650 is about the same drop at 900 yds. The wind calls are much more important with the rimfire.

Clay pigeons are my normal target. 4 1/2 "
1st shot was low left. #2,3 on left, #4,5 on rt.

My experience has been that wind is easier to call at 200 y and in than it is at 400y and out. Additionally, Recoil is a non issue with a rimfire in all but the most precarious of positions. As such, I don't think there is a useful comparison, and feel that 22 trainers are of limited utility. Don't get me wrong, most any trigger time is valuable but @Darqusoull13 can confirm that if centerfire were as easy as rimfire, I'd be doing WAY better at the local precision rifle match...

I think you bring up a good point about knowing the limitations of a training program. Yes, long barrel life, inexpensive commercial precision ammo and low cost / high repetitions are advantages of the 22's. Not all fundamentals are being practiced with the little guns, namely recoil control and longer distance wind reading. It does very much come down to the end user's goal.

Do you want to spin up (10) 6 GT barrels in a year and go through 1000 pieces of brass, 20k bullets, primers and powder to shoot your "match load" in practice? Or do you need to compromise down to a 30hate, 223 or 22 LR for a trainer?

25% size, which is not 1/4 of the current area of the target, it is 1/16.... you 25% height and width... a ‘full size’ IPSC target for 308 becomes about the size of your hand.

The next math I want to tackle is movers- TOF, lead and appropriate target speed.
