As the title states, I'm looking for a cheap, compact binocular to throw in my pack for matches. I've been carrying my Leupold BX4 Mckinelys, which have great glass, but they're heavy and cumbersome to pack.
Thanks gang.

If you want something basic, may i suggest a Minox BF series binocular ? Depending on what power you want they start at only $59.99

I have a pair of these in 8x25 and their performance for their price and size is outstanding. they hold their own against a pair of Nikon Monarch 8x42 looking at things on the horizon at the beach. probably won't hold up as well in low light but in daylight they're amazing...

I bought a Minox 7x42 monocular.
From Cameraland, thanks, Doug
It's great. Compact, light, easy to carry. Has a reticle and a compass.
I have it in the door pocket of my truck, top of my range bag, hiking, etc. I use them at the range if indoors or less than 50 yards ( but 5.7 ammo is hard to see ).
It was a demo unit and less than $100.
1.5 years and they are fine.

Not sure of what "cheap" is to you but an outstanding series of binos for a very reasonable price are the Kowa Genesis series binoculars. I replaced a larger pair of Swarovski binos with a smaller, more compact Kowa after comparing the Kowa to the same sized Swaros. I found the Kowa's were as good, maybe better (to my eyes) than the competing Swaro ELs for a whole lot less money.
Got a great deal from Doug at Cameraland on a pair.
