Rifle Scopes Cheaper scope advice... Millet?

So I'm looking for a 4ish-16ish (+ or -) scope for a 20" target ar that I built. I'd like it to be a mil/mil scope to keep them all the same. I currently have a fixed 6x leupold with a duplex reticle on it but I'm wanting to shoot it at a bit more range and would like a little more power to do so. I have a PST FFP 4-16x that I love on my bolt but dont want to spend that much on the scope for the AR. I'm looking for something $450 max. I would definitely like something without a duplex reticle maybe something more like the Vortex has to offer. I was just curious peoples experiences with scopes in this range and any advice. My fear in getting into a lower dollar scope is that if you dont do your research you could end up with a real dog.
I heard a few things about millet scopes and they look pretty decent especially for the price. Does anyone have any experience with this. Specifically the Millett 4-16x50 TRS-1 Tactical 30mm. For $300 it looks to be a great deal if it's a decent scope. Thanks for you help, I really appreciate it!

Would a fixed 10X Super Sniper work for you? Or maybe for a few bucks more the 3-9 SS HD?

Millets don't have to great of a track record.

I have the TRS1 and the LRS and they both work great for me. I am new to the game and might not know the subtle differences but i zero'd it at 100, found all my adjustments out to 500 and back and it held it's zero perfectly. Glass is clear, no washout, etc... I have no complaints.

My TRS-1 worked just fine.
Glass was very good for the proce point, I shot with mu=ine on 16x all the time.

They have had issues though, mostly glass related, not mechanical problems.

My buddy has a falcon and he hasn't had a problem with it. He doesn't really like the turrets but he deals with it. They are a little mushy. I've looked threw it and shot his rifle and to me it works fine and I agree the turrets are that way. But in the end your getting a Ffp mil/mil scope for around 400 to 500 depending if you buy new or used.

Tell your buddy to go to the automotive store and by a can of spray silicone lubricant. (silicone lube is the important key here)

Remove the turret cap, spray the o ring with the lube, wipe it down and spray it again (I poked a hole in a paper towel and put it around the turret so as not to spray it all over my scope). Spray some inside the turret cap, wipe it out, then spray a light coat inside the cap. replace the turret cap and Viola! Nice, crisp tactile clicks.
Repeat on the other turret.

i have a Millet, and would definately buy another, the glass is very good for a lower end scope, and the scope tracks well out to 300 (that is as far as i can go at my range)

the only complaint i have, is that the target knobs are slightly mushy, but smooth, if you sheck midway usa, and use a coupon code, i bet you could get one for under 300.00 shipped.

I owned the TRS-1 also. I really liked it. It tracked well out to 1000y and back to 100y zero with no problems. For the price point of the scope it was well worth the experiment to try mil/mil before switching everything over to it.

On the flipside I also tried the LRS and that was a complete train wreck. It too was mil/mil, but no where near the TRS-1.

I would definitely buy another TRS-1, and I probably will. I still have a 10/22 with mil/moa and it drives me nuts.

Avoid the TRS-1 like AIDS.

I have only ever had cheap chinese scopes, and even I sent the Millet Back within hours of recieving it. Parrallax wouldn't set, at 16x the eye relief was horrible, the picture was cloudy, and your eye needed to be in an exact spot or you couldn't see anything.

I dont understand how they are selling for anythign over $200.

Look up my review of the Vortex Viper 6.5-20x. While its more magnification then you are looking for its 100x better then the Millet. I can read the numbers on a dial masterlock on 14x from 38 yards or at 20x at 50 yards, and the lock is in the shade. There is a $400 44mm version or a $460 50mm version

EDIT: Just realized you said mil/mil, the vortex is moa adjustments. But I would still take it over the TRS-1

I've had great luck with the trs1 and would buy another. Glass is clear and tracks well. No loss of zero and is mounted on a short .308. Well worth 300 bucks. Check US Armament. They have the cheapest price of found so far.
