So I was removing my brake and getting my rifle ready for cerakote and bedding when I noticed my muzzle looked like this! Ive never seen this before. Is this normal?
Yea it was carbon I got back in there with a more aggressive cloth and it all came off. Thats normal for a brake to cause carbon to build up like that right? I'm new to all this stuff...
yup. keep shooting and it will just be a big glob. I just took the brake of my .308 to look at the crown can't see much but about a 1/16" layer of gook (see Fletch) built up on the muzzle. Still shoots better than i do.

Good, I figured it was just carbon. I do not have experience with brakes but carbon buildup is VERY normal with firearms, if ever you get the chance to clean a GPMG that has fired a dozen boxes, you'll learn what 'carbon build up' really is
That isn't nothing several years back Zac Smith posted a picture or two of one of his AI barrels that had serious growths on it. It was almost comical... I try and keep mine cleaned off to help relieve my OCD haha
