I had a round stick in the chamber and after inspection the base is bad just above the extractor ring. I went through the new stuff and found 15 out of 50 that are bad. This is Win brass 7mm-08 that is necked to .260, I need to check more carefully.

Not sure what is up with Winchester brass lately. Was firing 9mm white box the other day and had a double feed. Checked the brass to find that the grove for the extractor claw was so shallow that the extractor hopped over it. Had to be only a few thousandths deep. Big WTF.
Not to mention that white box 9mm has changed to NATO brass with crimped primer pockets. ?!

Oh that's nasty. I would call/email Winchester and tell them about it. You might be able to get replacements.

Replacements? Ha. They will send you a Winchester Ammunition Certificate valid at any retailer wherever Win Ammo products are sold. Good luck on getting a vendor to accept the certificate. Still have mine and wondering what to do with it.

That said, I got Walmart to take the one Winchester sent me. The guy at the sporting goods counter had to go find a manager to ask about it since he had never seen one. Once he found the manager, the manager look at it and told him we have to take this. Mine was for a box of Winchester buckshot where the whole box had cost me $9 and I had one shell out of 5 that was bad. They sent me a coupon for $10, so I can't complain. I used it to get a box of .243 ammo for half price.

So, you are showing us pics of brass that you worked over and shot, not new brass coming out of the bag.
I'd like you to show us pics where the base has the same problem, new, no neck diameter changed, no spent primers in them, unfired, before people start propagating the tale that Winchester brass is coming from the factory like this.

I have seen a LOT of Winchester brass that has the same thing although to a much lesser extent.

Agree. Looks like you have more issues than brass to worry with. I've seen brass do the same thing, but because the chamber/bolt is jacked up.

Had a handful out of few hundred new Win. .300SM Brass have the grove @ the Base like that . Grove so shallow They would NOT come close to fitting/sliding into the shell holder when reloading them for the 1st time after firing . Had to just throw them into the recycle bucket .

Why you would think I came on here to lie about some brass is beyond me. I have better things to do. But for the no believer in the forum here is virgin unfired brass from the same bag. There are 15 not including the one I fired.

Sounds like you need to get on the phone with whomever you bought them through and have them replaced, or go directly to Winchester.
