No, all it does is show that even a factory action has less slop, but the Tikka is one of the smoothest actions I've owned.



You can doubt my opinion all you want, but nothing you have stated is "fact."

Everything you stated was based on your subjective opinion, and feel. Fact is that Bighorn, as do Defiance, Impact, Curtis and other custom action producers manufacture quality products with extremely tight tolerances, otherwise they would not be in business anymore. Your opinion of your Tikka honors your brand loyalty, and I seriously question why you then even mess with the likes of a Defiance, or GA Tempest when your needs can be satisfied so easily, and so much cheaper with a Tikka. I wish you well but personally I'll stay with my "sloppy" Bighorn because I've not experienced that "slop".

THE ACTION ONLY REALLY GUIDES AND SUPPORTS THE BOLT EVERYTHING FORWARD OF THE CARTRIGE INFLUENCE IS MOST IMPORTANT.

So the bottom line is it’s really up to you as to THE LOOK you like just make sure you have a good smith barrel it up for you…

I'd go with the TL3 over the other one you mentioned

The Origin, although nice is Bighorn's budget action. Did you have Bighorn time your trigger to the action? If not, you'd be surprised what a difference it makes; a friend had his timed by them as I just found out and his Bighorn action beats Tikkas to pieces.

If you send the trigger in when you place your order with them they'll perform it for free, if you send it in later after you've already received the action and send it back in with the trigger they charge $50.00. Well worth having it done.

I have 3 TL3's. The bolt is not sloppy at all. The bolt to raceway clearance is very tight. What you mY be speaking of is the wiggle when the bolt is 100% to the rear because that wiggle when to the rear is the interchangeable bolt head. The bolt is fully out of the action at that point. If you know how to run a bolt, that wobble is never felt when the bolt is all the way out of the action during cycling.

But to be clear, that is not a sloppy bolt to raceway tolerance you imply.

Can't speak for the Origin, I've only seen them never run them, as I said they are the budget version but the TL3s if properly timed leave the Tikkas in the dust.

and by budget we mean nitride versus DLC, pinned recoil lug, and no AW mags,

oh yeah no logo on the bolt shroud

I'm leaning to the TL3 . However, that Impact is nice as well. I like the idea of CRF and being able to pull the firing pin assembly easier on the TL3. I like the integral rail of the Impact.

What? Anyone can zero a 20 MOA rail at 100. Am I missing something?

You can zero at 100 with a 20 moa rail and I've never owned a 30 moa rail but I'm sure it could work there too. Also, you could go with a 20 moa rail and possibly need more, if you ever decide to do ELR, and get more cant with rings or mount. A 20moa rail is fine and will work..

All depends on the optics, what type of action SA, or LA. Most of my actions have the 20 MOA rail but a few have the 30 MOA and , some of the hunting rigs for the brush are 0 MOA rails. My point is with integral you better be sure that's all you'll ever want on it. Recoil lug is a different situation, I much prefer the integral over a pinned any day but anything connected to optics better be customizable in my book.

Lots of amazing actions these days, hard to make a bad choice.

The TL3 has lots of nice features. I owned one for a hot minute, bought it for the wife's rifle. It has a lot of "slop" when the bolt is fully rearward, which bothered the wife so I bought her a LP Fuzion instead. The TL3 does have great features though, and I wouldn't let the "slop" when it's fully rearward deter you - when cycling the bolt behind the rifle it's probably not noticeable at all. CS at Bighorn is great as well, so you will be fully supported by the manufacturer.

My current match rifle is a CRF action, but I went Mausingfield. I really love this action, has some very clever design features, much like the TL3. Paired with a LRI bolt knob and the right trigger, it has super light bolt lift and even lighter bolt close, and very reliable operation in adverse conditions.

For push feed, the Lone Peak Fuzion is a hard one to overlook. Bolt snaps open and is super smooth to operate. Impact is great as well, though it's a bit overhyped - with all the internet rhetoric and hyperbole around it, you may be disappointed that it doesn't give you a blowjob while you shoot off of a barricade. Still a nice action though. Defiance is another great choice. With the correct paired trigger and coating/surface treatment, all feel and operate great. Really a matter of preference. All are held to close enough tolerances that prefits can be made for them. Fuzion and Impact are "come as they are" where as the Defiance has more customizable options then any other action I know of combined.

Quite honestly, there isn't a bad answer these days for tier 1 actions. The quality and features of all of them are top notch. Pick one that speaks to you and run with it.

I just ordered a Defiance Deviant tactical. After going back and forth on which action (ARC, Bighorn, Curtis, Terminus, etc.) I went with Defiance. Integral recoil lug, M16 extractor, integral scope base, bolt head design options, CRF option if you prefer that, and they have a good reputation.

I ordered and received the same in a LA. I'm glad I went with Defiance and I have no regrets. I look at Defiance as producing a higher quality tier of custom actions. I also ordered it with DLC.
