Sidearms & Scatterguns Choosing a concealed holster?

Re: Choosing a concealed holster?

I have the Comp-Tac Mtac for my Glock 19 and 26 with two different kydex inserts. I purchased it a couple months ago and have worn it every day since it showed up. It is a great holster, and as with most of them, it gets more comfortable as it breaks in. Never had an issue with mine.
Hope it helps.

Re: Choosing a concealed holster?

I prefer leather myself. I have been carrying in a Milt Sparks versa max II for a while now. By far the most comfortable IWB holster I have ever tried. They are expensive but worth every penny if you carry frequently.

The holsters you are looking at follow the same basic design, keeping the belt loops spread outside the weapon. This style is great for distributing the weight of the pistol and reducing the profile for concealment.

Re: Choosing a concealed holster?

Those look alot like the crossbreed supertuck deluxe that everybody here is mentioning...

Which, by the way, I aquired one of a few weeks ago, and it is the best and most comfortable in the waistband holster I have ever used.

So yeah, I highly recommend the Crossbreed Supertuck Deluxe.

Re: Choosing a concealed holster?

I have the CTAC from Comp-Tac. It's a good, stable, adjustable, minimum-profile holster and works great for my M&P compact in everything from shorts/t-shirts to slacks/button-ups.

Re: Choosing a concealed holster?

I have the Crossbreed Supertuck and love it. I will say that I have never tried another IWB holster so I can't say it is better or worse.

I suppose the fact that I haven't ever felt the need to try another should speak well for the CBST.

Re: Choosing a concealed holster?

I like quick and easy myself. Sure there are very nice expensive holsters out there, but I like a quality clip on.

High Noon Holsters' Bare Asset is perfect for me, and I also have a couple Mr Softy's. The Mr Softy is my all time favorite appendix carry. I can drop a 3" 1911 or my KelTec on an dbe out the door in a holster I can wear all day with either rig, and they are around $40 shipped.
If you want to pay a bunch and wait for a holster to be made they can do that too

They have pretty much 2 lines, a production line with holsters in stock and a made to order line, you can go as nuts as you like.
Plus their "you don't like it, send it back" warranty can't be beat.

Re: Choosing a concealed holster?

I have the MTAC and like it a lot. It looks big when you get it, but you can feel it while its being worn and has adjustable cant and ride height. My Glock 26 disappears under a t-shirt and im not a very big guy at 6 foot 155 lbs.

A good belt is half the equation so get yourself a good one of those too.

Re: Choosing a concealed holster?

many of us here have gone through the same dilema and have bought and sold many a holster. The Comptac are nice but I prefer the Sparks VMII. They tend to be pricey, but buy once, cry once and be done with it. Keep in mind that whatever holster you go with get a good gunbelt. Don't throw it on a regular belt it will carry very differently.

Re: Choosing a concealed holster?

I've used both the comp-tec IWB and Crossbreed supertuck. At least for me, I think the crossbreed is much more comfortable for CCW. The only disadvantage to the holster is that it is leather and absorbs moisture, but that goes for any leather holster. High noon is similar to crossbreed in design.

Re: Choosing a concealed holster?

i have a raven concealment holster. once i received the holster, i took a heat gun and warmed it up and changed the contour of the holster so it sits better at 4/5 o'clock on my hip.
