Hi team,

I own a Marlin 336 lever action for close range target fun (has Leopold 1-5x scope on it) and am building a bolt action Tikka T3X in .223 KRG Bravo chassis for general range day enjoyment to add variety.

I need a scope to suit and have narrowed it down to a couple of options.

Shooting will be offhand 50m, 100m shots, seated and prone 200m shots and 300, 400, very occasionally 500m prone work.

Final choice is as follows.

Trijicon Credo HX 1-6x24 SFP, Green BDC Hunter .223

Or

Trijicon AccuPoint 2.5-12.5X42 in mil dot or MOA.

They both appeal. Both are SFP which is fine.

I am on the fence, can anyone offer some points to tip me one way or another? Thanks!

Is there a reason why it has to be Trijicon?

I think you can do better in that price range, some guys with more detailed knowledge on that will be around soon. But NF NX8 comes to mind. Call Doug at Cameraland and tell him what you want to do and that you're a member here.

The PX on here is a good place for used optics too and you can get a really good deal on better glass. A lot of these guys want the latest/greatest (everyone on here has their niche) and some get really good deals to begin with and pass that along with the depreciation. I've bought probably five scopes from members, four of 'em were like new and came in the boxes, all were half price or better.

Unfortunately I'm overseas and options are limited, Cameraland can't ship out of the US. The Trij options are as good as it is likely to get. They are Ferrari's compared to the other kit I can get for the money.

Think I'll probably get the 2.5 x 12.5 just have to pick between their MOA and mil reticle.

I think the MOA allows for double the ballistic drop via holdover if I'm reading the graphic right which will be necessary for long shots?

Since you suggested it and I'm talking to myself anyone know of a roughly $1,000 NF NX8? If so I'll bite.
