Suppressors Chopped 51t Flash Hider

So back in the day when the 7.62sd was all of the rage (2010ish), I purchased one along with several flash hiders. I have always loved the sound of this suppressor but have absolutely hated the the mounting system. I don't like the pinging sound on fresh flash hiders and I don't like how the lockup isn't super solid.

I've modified a few of them by turning the 45 degree shoulder on the flash hider that mates up with the can. That has probably been the best thing that I've done with this system until now...

Since I don't use Night vision nor shoot at night time, I was thinking, why am I putting up with these prongs on the end of my quick detach system? So, I ended up taking a few of my mounts to the wire EDM and chopped them off.

The savings are about 1.5 oz and I don't have to deal with the pinging anymore.

Interesting thought, I have one as well and it drives me nuts in my 5.56. I have acouple of aac brakes and the breakout, they don’t it. So if you ever ever upgrade. Another option is battle comp makes a 51T brake.

Your set up doesn’t look half bad. Any accuracy issues?

I've looked at the Battle Comp 51t mounts before. They are too pricey in my opinion.

I've often thought of designing my own 51t mount that would have indexable teeth. That way it would snug up tight with any 51t suppressor.

I wish someone could put an upgraded mounting system in them as I’ve had one for years I never use(mines 18 tooth).

I wish someone would come up with a mounting upgrade for these as well. I'd even take a direct thread as long as it made the can shorter and lighter.

Are there a lot of 51t style suppressors out there that are just sitting around like mine?

I have used the Battlecomp one before and some other guys around here... we tend to like them.. And I am also sure there are a lot of 51T cans laying around lol

I just never had a problem with the "ping" or cared... and never seen an issue with the "mount wabble" but mine have always been on SBRs or Carbines not shooting groups but I have used my SCAR 16 with the old 18 Tooth can to get hits on a 18x24 plate at 600ish yards.. A friend on my has a PSR with the Titan QD that has a dab of wabble in the mount... and still gets consistent hits at 1300yd So the Wabble issue may be blown out of proportion in my opinion...BUT there are better mounts out there now the 51T is like 13 years old now lol

I had my gunsmith fit every 51t mount I had to my aac suppressor. It elimated the wobble and improved the accuracy with the can on any gun. After all that I bought more cans and have not shot the AAC in many years. Heavy as hell compared to a thunderbeast and I use surefire cans on my full auto’s. AAC went to shit in a hurry after Remington/Freedom bought them.

I stand corrected. I just found my flash hider and I did cut the times down to 3 different lengths. Another one I had I cut them all the way off. These pics show the flash hider and where the gunsmith removed material to get it to lock up tight.

A tip I learned, I have four AAC cans using these mounts. Buy ten mounts per can or per weapon, select the best ones, send rest back. No modifying to find one that'll lock up tight. If you get the brake, they work pretty well and the Brakeout isn't too bad --at least it doesn't ping. I sold most of my FH's, all but the one that's blind pinned to an M4.
