Christensen Modern Precision Rifle

Got a problem, can use some advice.

In trying to better understand why my cases are prematurely disengaging from my electors and getting left in chamber, I sent an empty case into chamber to get a better look.

When i tried closing the bolt, it didn't want to close so i tried backing it out to investigate, but its loosely locked in there now. Nothing is jammed, haven't put any pressure on anything but the bolt cant be removed now. Its loosely locked in the gun. I can't remove bolt and I can get it into firing position, its floundering in-between positions.

I feel like the firing pin needs to be fired or it needs to be cocked to get bolt to come out.

Like I said. Nothing was forcefully done, I think the bolt needs to be reset but I'm not sure how to do that while it's in the chamber.

Any advice?

Post a picture. I'm having trouble visualizing exactly where the bolt is.

Finally got mine all together, 16" 308 with Leupold Mark 5HD 3.6-18X44, Spuhr mount and SiCO Omega can, easily shooting MOA or under with my handloads. Loves 155gr A-max's. Happy customer so far.......

What rail do you have on your gun? Is it the stock one or an aftermarket. I've never seen a stock one with the arch in the loading port like yours.

Anyone else have issues with the magazine feeding? I have the 300wm model. The original mag sat just low enough such the the bolt would not catch the base of the round...but would ride up half way up the round. The guys at CA just sent out a new mag to try.

Side note, really love the rifle, but ended up having to strip the thing, re-torque and loctite everything after noticing a few loose screws.

I just got my 3rd MPR in 308 16". One thing I noticed is the magnet rattles quite a bit. Looking at the schematic there should be spring that keeps it pushed out to prevent this. I tried to remove the roll pin to see if there's a spring in there or not but the roll pin didn't want to budge. Anyone else have this issue? I'd like to fix it so it doesn't make noise when moving around.

is it just your new mpr that rattles or they all rattle?

Man, we think alike! Mine also has the Ultra 7, waiting on the TBAC bipod.

They are nice rigs

Yes they are very nice. I saw it at Sportsman's Warehouse and had to buy it. It definitely feels like a complete "system"
rather than just a bunch of parts thrown together to make a gun. The action is a little rough, but it shoots great and feels even better. I'm VERY impressed with it.

Def would love to hear a comparison to the Fix.

Also, those TT scopes are badass. I spend way too much on guns and glass, but haven’t jumped on the TT wagon yet.

Finally received my mpr in 300NM, pretty impressive set up in my opinion.
Has anyone done any load development for the 300NM. I have lapua brass, 215 bergers, H1000 and N570.
I plan on sticking with H1000 if I can get a good load with it. N570 is awesome for max performance but I don't think it is quite as stable as h1000 and is harder on barrels. It is also dirtier.

So far I skim turned my necks and loaded some barrel break in rounds with 83.5 grains of H1000. That is producing 2960fps over the magneto.

Curious to see what accuracy is like and final velocity after break in. Any heavy bolt lift? That’s one of my biggest complaints with the Christensen’s I’ve owned. Seems to be worse with the mag bolt faces

How is the Recoil on that? I have a 300 Norma conversion kit for my Desert Tech, which I haven’t shot enough yet, but I’m glad for the extra weight.

It isn't bad at all. I was shooting prone with a modern evolution bipod and rear bag, and with my scope at 22 power I was able to spot all my shots at 100 yards. The CA side port brake is very effective and I run it with the second and forth port from the shooter opened up to stop muzzle jump.

Recently got an MPR in 6.5 PRC and have 80 rounds on it. First impressions are that this is an awesome value for ~$2000. They are going to sell a lot of these. Absolutely love the chassis. Trigger is great. Rifle shoots sub MOA with factory ammo.

I'm spoiled with my AIs, so the action feels a little rough. But it has smoothed out a bit as I've shot it/dry fired it.

Only real issue is I'm having some failure to eject issues. Called Christensen and their mailing me a new extractor spring.

I took the brake/crush washer off to shoot suppressed. The crush washer was "stuck" and I got it off by placing a drop of oil on the muzzle threads, and using vise grips to very carefully unscrew it. This essentially cuts new threads on the crush washer and allows it to screw off.

Has anyone here tried using there CA MPR in a PRS match? Can it handle the pressure without a walking poi?

I want to try it one day when my ejector is fixed and more reliable. Just wondering...

So got my 6.5 PRC yesterday and wasted no time in cleaning it and getting some groups together. So far I’ve seen maybe 2-3 people actually post targets of there groups with factory ammo so here are mine.

I’m very impressed after only shooting 20rds through the gun and getting down to a .375moa group already. All shots were with factory Hornady 143gr eldx ammo. I shot 6 sight in shots at 25 & 50yds to get where I wanted on paper then shot 14rds in this target. I did a very simple shoot and clean after each 3-6 shots for one box of ammo and I think it’s a good enough break in. Definitely exceeds CA moa guarantee. My best group was #2 and of course my heart was pounding after that I screwed up group #3, but group #4 tightened back up. The action definitely was rough but surprisingly after a little grease and about 10rds it became very smooth. Overall very happy so far but still need to put more rounds through it and shoot some 5rd groups.

Nice, just got my MPR back, ejector was out of spec. Can't wait to go again

Does anyone have hands on experience with the 300 PRC?
I have had one supposedly shipping to me ‘in the next day or so’ for a while now. Price was too good to bail out but if they don’t ship to arrive by next Friday I’ll be giving up on it. Hopefully I’ll have results to post but I’m not sure at this point.

Cancelled my order today. The dealer finally admitted he had no clue on if/when he'd actually get it.

Has anyone been able to adjust the trigger? On their website it says it comes with an adjustable trigger. However, their manual that comes with the gun says it is a set trigger and not adjustable.

Mine came with a Trigger Tech and its adjustable. Assuming they still come with Trigger Tech triggers, then just adjust it like you would any other Trigger Tech.

I have about 200 rounds through my 6.5 PRC and so far I am loving the rifle. But there is one thing I've noticed that I just seems like a genuine design flaw. The bottom of the handguard isn't flat. The handguard gets taller (ie bigger) toward the rear where it interfaces with the chassis. And its right where the rifles center of gravity is. See the picture below.

What is curious is the handguard has M-lok slots extending back past the change in dimensions. Basically right where I want to run an Arca rail.

But its not flat!

So there you go... I'm stuck either slapping an Arca rail right there, creating a big gap and hoping its stable or putting it quite a bit forward of the center of gravity.

With all that said, its still an awesome rifle and value.

Have you had any interference with the hand guard effecting barrel whip? I’ve seen pictures of various MPR’s and it seems like it only has a few mm to move. Also have you mounted any Picatinny rail attachments to the carbon forend?

Any MPR shooters with a reasonably high round count on the gun (1500+)? Wondering how the barrels are holding up accuracy wise - I have a 16" .308 on order and trying to get some sense of what to expect long term.

Thanks in advance.

There is no issue with the hand guard touching the barrel. Yes, I’ve attached M-lok attachments to the forend. I added a QD sling mount and arca plate and there it plenty of room between the hardware and the barrel.

Ok - is that based on your personal experience? With one rifle? Or do you have experience with/knowledge of several? What caliber(s)? How many rounds? What type of shooting? Trying to get some actual intel. Thanks
