Chronograph question

I bought the RCBS bullet shaped chrono. I set it up at about 15 feet and all is well but..... When the shooter next to me fires it registers on my chrono. Benches are about 6 feet apart. He was using a Remington 7615 pump.

Is the a faulty chrono or have you seen it before

Was the sun at an angle so that a shadow from the shooters round could have gone across your chrono?

It is a possibility, the speeds were registering at about 1600 fps, which is obviously not right for a 16" 223 he was using. Would muzzle blast cause this ? I was shooting a 20" 308 and the chrono worked perfect for as long as waiting for him to stop shooting.

My chronograph also has an audible pickup that will hear shooters in the next lane over, yours may have the same thing (like a shot timer). I just have to wait until they are done shooting to start my measuring.

Sounds like we suffer the same fate, It's not the end of the world just a pain in the ass. Thanks for the info

Muzzle blast could effect the chronograph. May a combination of angle of the sun and muzzle blast?

I think it is muzzle blast.
