Ckye-pod uses?

I've had my Ckye-pod for a little while now, shot 3 matches with it so far. I absolutely love the width when prone but past that I haven't used it in any special way where its advantages come into play.

I've seen the pics of a couple of shooters using them on tires and really crooked rocks, which are cool pics.

I guess my question is, can you guys give me some examples of where its uniqueness is utilized? Or even better a picture of it in action?

This is what has stopped me from buying one. They’re really cool, but I wonder how often I’d use anything beyond the standard techniques/modes/features.

If they were less expensive I’d grab one just to try out, but when it’s a two for one situation (2 accu tac or atlas for the price of one CKYE) it’s hard to justify grabbing one just to play with.

Check out the NRL Idaho match photos. TONS of pictures of guys running them with different uses. I absolutely love mine and have quickly found it more versatile than any of the Harris, atlas, or Evopods that I have owned.

Had a local match with a roof pitch running low to high from left to right. Saw a lot of shooters try to bag up for this shot and miss. Borrowed a friend's Ckye and used the extreme cant to set up the gun and basically shoot it benched. I'll own one, not because of the hype, but because it worked for me.

I have one, a Harris and Atlas all have their benefits..

Honestly the GameChanger has really taken place of a lot of shots where you'd otherwise be trying to make a bipod work.

I don't have any pictures, but I can share why you spend the money on a Ckye-Pod...
Easy to deploy and remove from the rail, Vary rapid location adjustments while on any type of rail. When you shoot in the hills instead of a square range the extreme height adjust ability if fantastic. We no longer pack several bi-pods on quick releases to meet our height needs. The Ckype-Pod accomplishes all the elevation you will need in a single unit. It is rapid to adjust, both gross and minor height adjustments. As you have pointed out, the footprint can be made extremely wide, giving you a great base and allowing different surfaces to be used.
My kids love them, they are easy to adjust and fast. They don't have to mess with levers and sliders, they just press a button down and adjust for a gross elevation then pull the leg and done. They will work in a low sitting position without any added parts...

Best part, Ckye is a great guy... just don't tell him, his head may swell...
Short answer, own one asap...

If you shoot on a square range, I love my atlas. Great bipod.

If you have ever shot a field match or went hunting, harris//evo/atlas are 100% unusable. That doesn't even bring into account the ability to go super wide or super narrow footprint to match a barricade.

Add extensions you say? Ok besides the time waste, you are $50 for 3". Add tall legs? $100 a set. Add quick detach? $100 for a head. Spike feet? $50 a set. After all this you are same price as a C-P and you still don't have the cant or pan.

Shot a match last weekend in WA state. It was in a field with tall grass everywhere. There was not a single stage I could have used an Atlas.

That being said, even before the C-P came out, I used a Sinclair Tactical bipod because even it was 100% more adjustable than a atlas/harris/evo.

Thanks for the responses! Just to be clear, I really like mine just haven't needed or used it to its max potential yet. Again, I've only used it in 3 matches so I'm sure I'll learn new ways to use it. I was just looking for some ways that I haven't thought about. Most of the ranges I shoot would probably be considered "square", so maybe that's one of the reason's I haven't seen the opportunities yet.

Don't get me wrong, I love my CYKE, it really is something..

But really, as wonderful as that picture is, there are a bunch of ways in that very image to get a very stable shot, especially as accomplished as you.

For those of you who own a C-P, do you have the standard length legs or the short ("PRS") legs? I've been considering buying one with the standard legs but don't want to get it and find they're too long for use in matches.

Standard Length. Spread the legs out wider if you need to be lower. Most of the time I have 1 side middle and 1 side on the lowest height setting. This is for fairly level ground.

I have both legs. I love the short legs for 90% of PRS matches where ea stage is spelled out. Very reminiscent of a atlas, with added adjustablility in a second if u need it.

If any field match/stage, ie prone in the grass, shooting off rocks, downhill, etc etc the long are super sweet.

Id match to what matches you shoot the most. Competition dynamics and RTC? long legs all day. PRS/NRL? Short.

I've used one from a buddy (borrowed) for a bit. It is cool. Fast to adjust and deploy. That said, I really didn't see much advantage to it over an atlas. I elected not to buy one. Money wasn't the factor at all. Maybe I just didn't spend enough time with it. Certain stages its very useful. I would not even consider the standard legs for PRS. Way too long. I tried the standard legs and maybe I need to try the short ones.

One issue I've found with any bipod is you think it's perfect until you run the stage. Then its too high, too low, not enough cant adjustment etc. You have 2 options

1. Screw around with the bipod until it's good enough wasting valuable time.

2. (my favorite) Screw the bipod and stow it and throw down the bag and spend more time taking careful shots.

No bipod design can fix human error in judgement of height etc. In a club match or something where you can play on the prop ahead of time it's fine. In a national match where you can't play around near the props then I always find myself resorting to a bag unless its super straight forward. Just how I do it and certainly not any better than how others do it.

One thing about the standard leg Cyke that turned me off is to get it low enough for my use one some obstacles I had to spread it wide. Which is fine when its a huge barricade. On tires and most other things it spreads so wide that one leg will be off the obstacle. The atlas and harris have their legs much closer together which allows you to get away using it narrow barricades.

Yes, know you can tilt the legs forward to bring them close together but then I have to move the bipod way back and it will interfere if I need to transition to shooting off a bag during the stage. Again, I may just need more practice with it but personally I'd def get the shorter legs if you get one and plan to use it in PRS.

Had one and sold it. They are cool for sure, build is top notch and they have lots of adjustment/versatility if the conditions require it. But for all of the stages that I shot with it, there wasn’t one time that I could discern a significant advantage over guys with Atlas/Harris/etc.

I guess it depends on region or the type of match that you’re shooting. Field matches with tall grass or whatever, the adjustment could definitely help. But for rocks like the above pics, and for the time it would take me to figure out how I wanted to get set up, and then to get it set up... I am just as good taking a Gamechanger up there rather than going out of my way to figure out how to configure the Ckye-pod.

Different strokes I guess, but I’ll stick with my Atlas.

I'm hoping to figure out for myself pretty soon how the design features of the Ckye-pod help out as I have the PRS one on the way. I've played with them a bit and some of the advantages that seem obvious to me is tall grass in the field matches we have here out West as well as being able to get lower. I've run Harris' for years but with all the add ons (RRS pic/dovetail adapter, Atlas adapters, spikes) even the short Harris is kinda tall, something I really noticed at the Idaho NRL match where we were shooting down off cliffs into the valley below.

Javelin bipod is on my list and also the Cyke-Pod looks interesting. It's too heavy for what I prefer as my focus is backcountry backpack hunting, but it looks very interesting.

The javelin is intriguing. I can’t tell how stable it really is.

I was thinking the same and glad you chimed in. 100% unusable? Sorry but I had to shake my head on that comment. To each his own I guess.

Everybody has gear they are passionate about, which is why everything needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

I have an Atlas on every rifle I own. Never been to a match where I couldn't make an Atlas do what I needed unless the stage was designed against bipods (like needing a tripod to even see the target from the firing position.)

The CAL, is especially awesome. I think it's really their best achievement yet. Wider stance and stiff, I like it.

Having said that, I'll give a Ckyepod a whirl because why not, I'm a gear whore. But even if it's truly the bipod Moses came down the mountain with, it's price point puts it in an odd position in the market.

It's also relatively new, where Atlas models have an established rep built on years of hard use. It will be interesting to see how things continue to evolve and I appreciate a competing design that's actually original and functional instead of somebody else's take on one of B&Ts ideas in violation of patents.
