Long story short I have had my rifle re-barreled, I have had a variety of issues with extraction (and ejection) since.
I had thought I had sorted the issue (bought a new extractor and had chamber re-cut) but shot a match in the rain this weekend and half way through started gets fired cases stuck in the chamber again.

I had some cleaning supplies in my car so managed to fix it but am thinking I need to start carrying something with me.
What are guys carrying around as far as cleaning gear goes? I had thought maybe a bore mop, brush and 4 pieces 22lr rod would be required but then thought perhaps a boresnake would do the trick.

Or any recommendations or tips for people with tight chambers to avoid this happening in the first place?

The rain probably had more to do with the issues than the tight chamber alone but it's never a bad idea to carry a cleaning kit. I carry an Otis based cleaning kit that I can use on everything from .22 cal to .45 cal., it's pulled me and others out of a jam more than once. Boresnakes are good for a quick field cleaning to dry out the bore or remove some crud but the brush can get you in trouble on a .22LR, I'd remove the bronze brush so it's just the cloth portion.

I know it goes without saying but in the rain, do everything you can to keep water out of the action and your ammo dry. Sometimes we're not always cognizant of how we carry the rifle or manipulate it in dry conditions that can easily allow water in. In the past, I'd make a conscious effort to carry the rifle bore down, bolt forward on the ECI and when I set it down, it'd be on the bipod with the rifle covered by a TAB gear cover. Ammo would be stored in a waterproof container and loaded mags stowed in pockets under my rain jacket or in a separate zip lock baggie.

The rain definitely contributed but the tight chamber didn’t help, I shot the rifle (T1x) with factory barrel in some horrific conditions, and had it a lot dirtier and never had a failure to extract.

Does the Otis kit work on 22lr? I have a multi peice rod but it’s too tight for 22lr (I know from previous experience…).

I don’t really like the idea of a bore snake but I wondered it if might be the least intrusive, hopefully just dry it out and remove the crud.
Sounds like a 22cal bore snake will be too tight and a 20cal is recommended, so shouldn’t mess the bore up too bad.

Why is the brush on the boresnaks bad?

It’s not bad per se but in my experience when using a 22cal boresnake in a .22LR bore it can require more effort to pull it through. Dirty, tight, naughty chambers and bores can test how good the stitching is connecting the pull cord to the snake. The last thing you want to try to be doing at a match, or ever, is reversing a bore brush while it’s inside the barrel.

Wouldn't a boresnake be easier in the field? Not having to fiddle around with patches, small containers in the wind and rain.
I do like the look of that though, looks very light weight and compact.

And then of course, no international shipping....
It’s as easy as a boresnake but better. Try it, trust me.

Bore snakes get grimy quick. A patch worm and the felts or patches work better and you know you’re not dragging crap through

FWIW the only failures to extract my T1x had was from rain getting on a round. Used a knife tip to pry it out first time. Bought one of the A&J tools which is honestly kind of crap, material is way too soft.

What chamber and ammo are you using?
I don't know the chamber, it'll feed and extract live rounds perfectly.

I've had a few issues with it but thought I'd sorted it all out. It'd done 600+ rounds without cleaning before this match. I cleaned it before the match and put a box of ammo through it to verify dope. But during the match must've got some water in there was only 100-150 rounds through the rifle at that stage.

Cleaning out the chamber fixed it.

Using Eley Club.

The rifle will extract if I cycle the bolt a 2nd time.

Never had an issue with factory barrel, and shot in some horrendous conditions.

They don't ship internationally so I can't easily get one.

I'll try DIY something with weed eater string. Or I might just go bore snake, the idea would be never use it unless I get a failure in the feild, so hopefully gets used once and then washed.
