Instead of sleeping in the master bedroom, move to the front bedroom. From low in the doorway, you can watch the dining room and kitchen, plus cover the hallway. Less chance of hitting the neighbor's house too. You call 911 and keep that position with the kids in the bedrooms behind you. If you must go to the kids room, have your wife cover you from the doorway. If the intruders are in a position to see to the end of the hallway, she will see them too. You could then cover your wife's retreat and hole up in the back bedroom watching the door. No point in trying to clear the blind spots in the kitchen/dining room/living room/courtyard by yourself, wait for the professionals to do that.

I have to keep trying to think from the side of an untrained person conducted a B&E- but from a trained person's view, posting up in a doorway is ALMOST as bad as posting up in a hallway.
If entering through the back door, pie-ing off the corner of the bedroom to the immediate right would leave anything in the hallway in a world of hurt- that includes anyone posted up in a doorway. This is of course assuming equal visibility.
Same goes for either court yard door- pie the laundry and storage; although there is a slightly less advantageous aspect to this- being centered in the field of view from the doorway is likely to decrease response time to acquire the target and engage from the doorway.
IMO, the best answer is to stay where you are if possible and strong-point the room If done from the master bedroom at an acute angle, there will be protective fire out the doorway and down the hall past the first bedroom's door. This also stands a decent chance of having an angle of fire which will not intersect with the common wall of the neighbor's house.
If there are outlets in the hall, as there should be- install a few night lights and paint the hallway a very light color. Paint the bedrooms darker more muted colors and do not use night lights in the bedrooms. This will give you a darker area to shoot from while your target will be in a lighter area; making you harder to see and him easier to see. If no one is in the first bedroom, your span of safe fire increases and you can even decrease your angle of strong-pointing.
Again, the best thing you can do is barricade yourself and await help. Second best is strong point a room and await help. The worst option is any sort of clearing operations
