I would disagree with this. Just like most of the headlines it leaves out the facts. Corn captures carbon and stores it in the soil. The bushel of corn that is processed at the plant is also made into corn oil and dried distilled grains which are fed to cattle instead of corn. Corn oil and ddg are a by product of the ethanol production. So from a carbon standpoint ethanol has a minimum effect. Let’s not also forget ethanol is a renewable resource not a fossil fuel and also the tailpipe emissions are much cleaner. The article goes on to say most of the carbon is coming from the tilled fields. Well most farmers are doing a lot of no till farming. Also those fields that are being tilled would have to be planted to corn anyways to feed the livestock that the dried distiller grains are being used for instead of corn for feed.

Gasoline is not renewable as far as I know. About 30 percent of the corn planted in the us is no till. Even minimum till helps prevent carbon loss from the soil. Now I do agree that Ethanol is a small amount of the fuel consumed in the USA. Trump had this crude oil business figured out when he was running the show. When oil was below $60 a barrel we bought from other countries. When it was over $60 we fracked our own. The other countries needed money so crude went down then we bought from them. It was genius really. I am just a farmer with a high school diploma but common sense tells me Ethanol for use in automobiles is good for the environment.

When you really get down to it and figure out where energy comes from, everything but nuclear is solar energy. Without the sun we wouldn't have weather that makes wind farms or hydro dams feasible. Fossil fuels just have the benefit of having been stored up over billions of years, sort of a natural battery if you will. Trying to use less energy and resources and pollute less is certainly an admirable goal, but the billions of years of solar energy stored as fossil fuels are what has enabled modern society to evolve to the point where we are now. Abandoning them and reducing the quality of life in the western world won't make a bit of difference to the global climate when countries like China and India with about 2 billion people combined are trying to attain our current quality of life. But what could make a difference in global pollution levels is using the natural gas we have available to us in Canada and the USA to provide a source of cheap energy for them that also happens to be much cleaner burning than wood or coal. And the celebrity climate crusaders can start leading by example, instead of telling us from their seaside mansions, private jets and mega yachts that we need to reduce the energy we use to the level of a third world country.
I don't really know who this Dan Pena guy is, but I thought this video was fairly entertaining.

It was a coastal city, situated where the Euphrates flowed into the Persian Gulf, and the people who settled there sometime around 3800 BC had some sort of a flood origin story. Basically the sea level was rising, and they were migrating upstream along the Euphrates River, and where they eventually settled is where the seal levels stopped rising. Ur was a major coastal city for roughly 3000 years, which is absolutely incredible. The ruins of this once great coastal city are marked on Google Earth, and using their measuring tool, anyone can see that it's about 235km from the current coast of the Persian Gulf. The only logical conclusion is that they also had a carbon tax, and that it worked to lower the sea levels to where they are today. Either that, or maybe soccer moms in SUVs isn't quite the apocalypse that were being told it is.

I make ethyl alcohol from corn all the time. That "Ethanol" is now synonymous with ethyl alcohol is more eco-faggot bullshit. What is the gas mixture you put in your car? Now "Ethanol" is completely synonymous with a real organic compound in actual chemistry. Nice way to play with language and fuck actual science with your bullshit religion. While I throw out the trub and spent grains there is ZERO corn oil made from refining and distilling corn. It is possible to wetmill the corn first, but no one except the most gigantic ethanol operations could afford it. That is not where most corn oil comes from, and maybe not fit for human consumption. Now, the spent grains could probably be dried and fed to cattle, but when all the starch has been removed and catalyzed into sugar for conversion to alcohol it would be very nutrient/calorie poor, and nothing like normal cattle feed. Much more likely it could be used as a filler in some other animal feed, but again, how many ethanol operations do that? My guess is very few. You have to be an Anheuser Bush level to make any money using spent grains like that, so it isn't done, and is just an eco-acolyte talking point, because it's possible.

Or one could look at the difference in heat capacity and realize it doesn't make sense. I haven't read much on the wobble affect (not my area) but that has been a proposed hypothesis. I need to read more about it though.
