clip slot

I pulled the base off a 40x left me by my friend and saw that it had been clip slotted. I have a high power bolt gun thats slotted, but that was a custom job. This one is factory. Never seen that before.And the port has an additional cut -half round -opposite. No idea what's that for. It's a early 2000 40x Tactical. Half inch shallow barrel flutes, black teflon, HS stock. Thank you for any information you have on it .

All repeater 40-XB/XC I have seen are clip slotted. Not positive about the older 40-X if that was standard but suspect they all were. The opposite relief cut is just to make it easier to fully push the loaded rounds down into the mag(no sharp corner on the loading port)!

Thanks. I have 3 other 40x's w/o slot, hence the question. All 308. One single shot.
