Closing gas block ?

Is there any harm in completly closing the gas block (adjustable)while load development or shooting on bench just to save brass chasing, then open up to cycle when done? Just wondering if theres any damge done to gas port or block?

you cant hurt the gas block but if you develop a load with the block closed and then open it up the load will change.

put a towel over your upper or get a brass catcher.

Really ? didnt think that the gas to the tube would change the round as bullet is on its way and out of barrel before gas even reaches the block,guess better just stay w/ the ball cap over scope then
