Hey Yall from Charlotte NC. I am new to bolt gunning (at least centerfire) but not new to shooting. I typically shoot pistol and some 5.56 gassers. I got interested in bolt guns after hearing about the mammoth sniper challenge. I also thought 'how beautifully simplistic' bolts were...until I was already too far invested

So far I have:
Tikka t3 6.5CM
Stock 23" barrel
KRG Bravo
Timney 2 stage trigger
Mapul Bipod (yet to try out- not in picture)
Nightforce 20MOA rail
Viper PST Gen2 5x25 EBR2
Anarchy swept handle& knob and aluminum shroud
And a Daniel Defense 18" 5.56 w/a Timney 2stage as well. Found out she likes 75gr black hills w/eld this past weekend.
I may post this elsewhere: Any thoughts on the 'best' 16" precision caliber? The bulk of my shooting is under 500yrds (80%is 250yds and in). I'm considering .308, 6.5CM, 6.5G, maybe a 6mm variety? The gun would be used for target (out to 500 maybe 800 on rare occasions), and possibly up to deer size game (inside 250yds). My concerns are muzzle flash, concussion, and recoil. By recoil I mean 6mm will kill it, 300WSM won't kill it any more.
