Me and brothers in law just got a new PVS-14s and the spec sheets for two of them have the same tube (L3 M814-CS001), but the data sheet from the last one says "IWNS" and has CNVD where it says what contract order it came from. From what I assume, his PVS-14 has the tube from a CNVD PVS-24, which is made for mounting on weapons - would that mean that his image intensifier would hold up better to recoil if mounted on a weapon system? Or does the tube need to be in the specific PVS-24 house which helps negate the effects of weapons recoil?

Thanks.

Re: CNVD tube in a PVS-14?

Ok the Tube in the CNVD (PVS 24) is an MX 11769 Type Variable gain tube so yes it is the same tube as what is in the PVS 14. Now the fact that your data sheet says CNVD is interesting as the PVS 24s I have in Stock only have M814 Omega on the Data sheets.

Where did you get this PVS 14?

Re: CNVD tube in a PVS-14?

The PVS-14 came from Adams Industries - under type it says INVS, and under Contract/Spec it says N-EOPPS-1417 (CNVD). So then its just a standard MX-11769 type tube, then?

Yes Sir you are correct Standard PVS 14 variable gain tube from L3. How do you like it?

Its not mine - it works very well though, has a 26.7 S/N and 64 lpm. It is however the loudest sounding tube I've ever heard. My particular L3 unit has an M814-DF2 with a 29.3 S/N and 64 lpm, lower EBI, higher sensitivity ect and is near silent. I love mine
