CODIS questions (DNA DB)

I've always been curious about who besides military and felons ends up in CODIS database.

I had a DNA test done for paternity 14 years ago.

Just curious if that would have ended up in there?

Part of me doesn't care but part of me believes it's a privacy issue.

Anyone know?

Re: CODIS questions (DNA DB)

I could be wrong but I believe the military samples are held in an entirely different database/storage system for the identification of remains. You can also request for the sample to be destroyed if your service obligation is complete. They only go into CODIS if they're convicted at a Special or General Court Martial.

For your situation I would suggest contacting the lab that conducted the test for details, but they're likely destroyed and deleted upon completion of the test or case.

Ya they didn't do DNA when I was in the military.

It's not like I'd ever do a crime, just the privacy factor...

Thanks, think the private lab was teh answer I was looking for!
