What causes a 10/22 to jam the shell at an angle failing to chamber. So I have tried 4 different ammo brands all plated. I am also using the ruger bx25 magazines. It runs awesome but when it is cold I get an occasional jam.

Damn, I thought my mag went south and bought two to replace it, haven't tried them yet. I was having the same issues, didn't even think of the cold.

The design only uses only one center placed action screw. When running a fully supported sporter weight/profile barrel and iron sights there is of little issue.

Start by placing a steel barrel that weighs more than the rest of the rifle with maybe a barrel pad or worse yet free-floated stock and the action will naturally want to "tip".

Slapping on things like long target scopes, 2 "jungle clipped" 30rnd mags, a bipod, sling, laser sight, BUIS's, flashlight, and portable microwave popcorn machine make for one seriously flexing unit.

Some gentlemen have actually had a "second action screw" installed.

Between the mass production, cheap plastic internal parts, shitty trigger, shitty plastic stocks, the factory 10/22 that costs over $180 is money wasted.

You want a semi-auto 10-22 design that's accurate? Get a Kidd or Valquartsen...otherwise get a bolt-gun. I tried and failed on the Smith & Wesson 15-22 Performance Center.

If what you want is an accurate rimfire...bolt-guns are the way to go. There's a big difference between target shooting and "plinking". Look at the top rimfire disciplines...noone uses the 10/22.

Now if you can get an all metal internals sporter with a few 30rnd mags...if its reliable use it to cut down coons in abandoned houses.</div></div>

Yeah we actually took his apart to see what was the issue. I was surprised that there was only the one screw holding everything in. He has since bought a new stock and is thinking of bedding it. He originally had a BTVS but sold it and regretted it. He was going to get another but couldn't find any, anyhwere local. I tried to talk him into waiting out for one but I think was tired of waiting. I had a 10/22 when I was around 12 or 14 and even then I thought the thing wasn't accurate at all and sold it to buy me a Savage 110 .223.

With that said though, I want to get another .22 and have thought about a Ruger but I don't want this one for accuracy. I want it for a "garage gun" if that makes sense. I just want it for if at night a possum comes up in the yard or a sick animal that I can just grab quick and eliminate and not care if the gun gets beat up at all
