Any of you guys familiar with the Chico Basin Ranch? I am headed there this August for a Pronghorn hunt with a friend and just curious what to expect during this time of year as far as weather.

Supposed to be lots of goats on this place, we will see. We will be doing this stick and string style over water holes.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Colorado Guys- Chico Basin Ranch?

I haven't hunt that ranch but the property is rather close to where I rifle hunt. Late August the weather starts to cool a bit, but can still get into the high 80's. The thing to remember is you will be at 5200ft, so it is very easy to get sun burnt on a long day hunt.

I am sure you will do fine, on my last hunt my daughters counted over 100 Antelope within a 20-30 mile radius we scouted. The animals like to hang out on private land.

For public land hunters, Colorado has the big game access program, specific to Eastern CO. Many farmers and cattle ranchers open their land for antelope hunting and the pass is only $40.
