Some people like the extra metal in the MEGA/SBU upper (I like the BCA), some like the Monolithic AERO Enhanced.
All seem to be stronger (if that is even needed) than normal uppers.
The AERO Enhanced seems to have more metal where the threads meet the road. Is it just an aluminum 'adapter' threaded on then welded to the upper?
I would think that is the real weak spot on an AR upper.
You could have a solid block of aluminium bored as an upper but the threaded extension is limited by 'Mil Spec' dimensions.
Other than crossing patent lines, would a combination of the two designs provide the stiffest upper?
Disregarding the weight of course.
Hold your upper up to the light and look at the junction of the threaded extension and the body of the upper.
