Holding the electorate to the higher standard puts the obligations and authorities in the better relationship.
When the politicians fail, it's the electorate who should pay the price. They did it and they disgraced their own honor and responsibility in so doing.
This is a flaw which can never be corrected at the polls, because the electorate never controls which choices they are gulled into making.
The entire thrust of a democratic (small "d") political system is that it allows the voter to say, "Hey, I didn't do it; it's the politicians who did it".

When we say things like the above, we acknowledge an electoral subservience that does not, and must not, ever exist.
You cannot fix the system; it was never broken because it was never actually functional, based in truth, or ever anything more than a pleasant fiction.
When a politician promises you something, it's always a fix for the system. The very concept is a lie.

And if so what does that mean for the rest of the freedom loving states?
I expect New Mexico, Colorado, and California to secede and merge with Mexico. Arizona, not. Not any time soon for any of it, but pretty sure eventually.

There's a lot of pent up anger out there. People are just too law abiding at the moment to take out the trash. We are being forced into slavery by the oligharchy. Inch by inch. A lot of big business is part of the oligharchy.
Interestingly enough, if you know where to dig there is AMPLE evidence of a systematic communist infiltration of our govt since the FDR years.
A book called “The Forgotten 500” is an excellent read of one of the earlier times that this Communist presence was used by the eastern bloc to exert influence to affect a strategic matter.
If you don’t know where/how to look, good luck finding much.
My own observation of human nature, as relates to blatant disruptive behavior, is that nobody will ever do anything responsive and constructive on the behalf of the system until no other options remain, and with much ostly delay even after that point arrives. Humans have always/will always choose the easiest way out of any destructive scenario.
To me, this means that anyone who takes these matters seriously is going to sit back and observe the travesty in a physically passive state, while meanwhile uttering combative statements, both veiled and unveiled.
For those among us who believe things can't get much worse before the backlash arises, dream on. It's going to get much worse, probably currently unimaginably worse. Basic human nature demands it; and the perpetrators of the travesty, solely for political power purposes, are counting on it.

What I want people to do is to see things as a they are, not as we'd like to imagine them to be, to go back to their own personal principles, and apply them as a means to decide what they want to do. But get off their butts and do it.

Desire as I could, even might, to step out of the line and get decisive, that could only be a pipe dream on my own part, and undeniably the most certain way for a Decrepit Elder Fart to just get in the way, drag down the effort, and provide a potent effigy serving the architects of travesty.

I agree with her on one point. We need to put 'people over profit.' Where I disagree is in the method to do that. It needs to be instilled in the individual psyche, much like the golden rule, and not mandated by a gubmint. Some churches and organizations like Salvation Army, Habitat for humanity already do that. Corporations should be held accountable by the people who buy from them. When the CEO is making 360 (or more) times what the individual is making something is wrong. In not in anyway against the free market for your labor, one should be free to earn as much as they wish, but socially they should be responsible. A perfect example is this pastor in Houston, Joel Osteen, who has jets, Mercedes, a HUGE mansion, yet preaches the gospel of Christ who had only the clothes on his back.
Does this mean she wants to own my taxes, debts and dirty outdoor furniture too? I’m okay with that! ?.

It's not so much how much a CEO makes but how he manipulates the company to juice his incentive pay. From direct experience at the same corporation we have had great CEO's and total dumb a## CEO's. The dumb a## ones will do short term stunts that make the earnings stock/look good get their big bonus $$$ and when they are gone don't give a Flying F that they hurt the organization in the long term. We had one CEO that took over with 2Billion in debt on the books and borrowed 14Billion to invest in questionable capacity then going into bankruptcy tried to guarantee his pension in an offshore account. A good CEO that watches out for the whole company takes care of the workers the product and cares for the customers is worth every penny they get.
I don't disagree. But the responsibility is on the board to not be morons and agree to terms like that when hiring one.
