I will be adding something like this to my new truck when it arrives. I will be leaving a gun inside as necessary, I’m not permitted to carry it into my place of employment nut state law says I can have it in my locked vehicle. There are several makers now, I like this design from E&G that has a smaller gun compartment and more unsecure storage. Without the unsecured storage it seems like crap would get piled on top of the vault door making it hard to access. I’m also going to look into the lock box for under the rear seat, but it’s only 16 gauge and may not be worth it. Option B is to just run a plastic storage compartment for a rifle under the rear seat and cable lock the gun to the seat frame through the action.

I have had one of these for several years, it works good for what it is. It will stop a smash and grab from getting your hand gun, but not someone with a pry bar. My hand gun only goes in it when I cannot carry it.
