If you purchase the right HAM radio, you can do a simple mod to open it up. It could be as simple as cutting a diode or resistor. Lots of info on the internet (YouTube) showing you how to do it.Yes and no. If you buy the right chicom radio, it isn’t all locked up in regard to capabilities like a HAM radio is.
I own both. There is LOTS that can be done in simplex with a uv5r. LOTS that a $1000 Kenwood can’t do.
There is good information in this thread, so I don't want to derail it with my reply about the stupidity of buying chicom products, so I'll start a separate thread about that.Yes and no. If you buy the right chicom radio, it isn’t all locked up in regard to capabilities like a HAM radio is.

Like @Benderthere are some ineptly obvious glowies on this site, but I have to wonder how many competent ones hang out here.
Boomer ham radio operators reading this...........Be cool if someone with some knowledge on radios would start a thread like coms. for dummies. Just a simply radio that you could use without a Ham license that could hit free repeaters and extend their distance.
When SHTF, those free repeaters will likely be locked down by the owners to save their bandwidth.Be cool if someone with some knowledge on radios would start a thread like coms. for dummies. I remember that day, and a lot of reports were coming in of cell phones not working. Couldn’t call or use the interweb.
cross reference facial recognition apps from other IOT (internet of things) devices, your smart TV, Ring Doorbell, microphones in your tv remote, your smart TV, smart fridge, smart coffee maker.
MIL or MOA?Just be sure to get Direct Impingement radios and not Piston radios- "because parts".![]()
I'm with you dude. I just hardly ever post anymore.Microsoft is building their 4th or 5th server farm here in Cheyenne. No joke.
VPN isn't going to do much
Seeing that he was kgb and defected, yea, He might know a thing or 2 cuz he has seen a thing or two.He nailed it!
No kidding. When the agency that created those server farms has hardline root access to the switching hubs, not much you can do as far as VPN goes.VPN isn't going to do much
For a little more money people can buy NON- chicom radios. There's a ton of irony in suggesting a chicom radio in a thread about technology being used to spy on people.
I might be interested in 1 or 2 of these. I read the spec. sheet, but couldn't locate the useable range part (line of sight? Farther?). Any idea? What would the best use of these be? I've got an older Corbra C.B. handheld, that the battery pack went TU, but I can still use an adapter plug in a wall socket for power (it would have to stay housebound, unless I use it in my vehicle(s) with the access. plug). It still seems to work, but I don't have a lot of C.B. traffic where I live. MacI recently picked up a few of these to stash. Just a little more expensive the the chicom stuff.

most people out there dont have the attention span to listen to Bezmenov, let alone read solzhenitsyn or bukovskySeeing that he was kgb and defected, yea, He might know a thing or 2 cuz he has seen a thing or two.
I try to show people his interviews… It largely gets ignored...."fuck that commi". I do understand that mindset though, I'm mistakenly headed at 1 time.
Usable range is standard UHF/VHF range. Line of sight is optimum, in woods hills can be limited. A mile or two to maybe 5. If there are repeaters in your area (probably) that can go way up. I can talk to folks in town about 60 miles away because there is a repeater on a mountain in between.I might be interested in 1 or 2 of these. Gov invented and controls the propaganda, I ment entertainment industry, a tool to desensitize, make it seem "normal". I love how the phrase for killing zombies has been coined as "mercy kills"Amazon product ASIN B006CEJ5X6
Kind of funny that they sell movies about their methods...
If you haven't seen this from the 1990's. Yes 25 years or so ago... Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Sirhr
Yeah it would be a shame if stuff like this became normal/commonplace :Gov invented and controls the propaganda, I ment entertainment industry, a tool to desensitize, make it seem "normal".
Do you mean you're going to swallow the tube?Where I grew up in very rural Virginia, we had a two word phrase to sum up my feelings.
"Fuck'um." (As a contraction its really tow words.)
Im 72 and after my two wolves leave tomorrow, I will have exactly 0 to the nth power, fucks to give.
What was that MacBeth said to Mc Duff?
People are stupid. You can sell anything if you know how to market to the changing human condition.I started my web business in 2002. It was right after the dot.bomb crash, with talking heads booming their predictions that the end of e-commerce was upon us. I was laughing and shaking my head barking back at the TV “No it hasn’t even started you chuckle-heads!!!” I knew what anyone with half a brain should have known. You can’t just put up a website and sell air and expect it to be a thriving business model.
I was very excited about the Internet. I knew early on that I would be making my living on the Web. One thing I understood right from the get-go, the Internet was nothing more than a new fascinating infrastructure. Not unlike electricity, roads or any number of other new technological infrastructures before it that revolutionized our society. You still had to have products and/or services to sell in order to make money. You still had to have customers willing to pay for that product/service.
Though I had that insight, I was completely naïve about how the nature of the Internet would grow and change over time. I should’ve known better but as a bit of an idealist, I thought somehow the Internet would be the great equalizer. We could have our proverbial cake, and eat it too.
Capitalism could thrive and anybody with a product or service could hang out their shingle in the global marketplace, cutting out the gluttonous middlemen. The “Great Collective” as I often called it would be the opportunity to equalize the flow of wealth and money in a capitalist way and thereby taking away the power of huge corporations and governments over us.
How wrong I was…… Since 2002 I have watched the internet continually dominated by a smaller and smaller group of players. You can easily see that the end goal is that you can’t sell or do business on the Internet unless you use their “gateway”. What I thought would be unyielding competition has boiled down to a few companies in almost complete domination. Even though I have my own website and e-commerce readily available, I recently had a customer who contacted me who was indignant that I didn’t sell on Amazon. He was actually upset at me about it.
2022 is my 20th year with my business on the internet. I don’t know how many small e-commerce websites that started in 2002 are still around but I am will to guess that the number is in the single digit percentile. I can without reservation that the future looks troubling for small businesses on the web. The “great reset” seems to be attempting to hasten this phenomenon.
I know.most people out there dont have the attention span to listen to Bezmenov, let alone read solzhenitsyn or bukovsky
