Anyone know where I can have a standard RCBS .338 Ultra Magnum FL die converted to a bushing die? I spoke to CH4D and they don't do it.

JLC Precision used to do it but I can't find any current information on them or contact info. Their is no web site and no one answers the old numbers I found listed from posts in 2010.

Thanks.

I would imagine that for the money and effort involved in trying to have a die modified, you could just buy a new bushing die and have it by wednesday

I was told, a number of years ago, that the Wilson dies are the only ones that can be modified because all the rest are hardened. I have had some Wilson dies modified, so I know that's true. I'm pretty sure every RCBS die is hardened, so you would have to "grind them" to modify, you can't just chuck up in a lathe and cut with a tool. If anybody does this, I don't know but I like the advice above. Simplest solution is to buy a bushing die. BB

Yes, reloading dies, are hardened but they can be cut in a lathe using carbide tools, JLC has modded a number for me and now that I have a lathe I have modded some for my own use with carbide.

Like the others have stated, unless you have access to a lathe and tools, and have to pay 70.00-100.00 dollars an hour for machine work, it's cost prohibitive.
Just buy one.

Ok... I'm game now I just need a .338 Ultra Magnum neck bushing die that someone has on hand that I can order and have here by Wednesday?????? I tried finding one available for immediate shipment and came up empty. I don't need a two or three die Redding set. I just need the bushing neck die.

You try midway dude? I haven't ordered from them in quite some time, but I got most of my dies from them. Check if they got one in stock. And yes, you can get just the die. You know, let me check with a good friend of mine who is a redding dealer. I'll see if he can get one ASAP. I'll PM you tomorrow.
