He needs to be charged and tried. I don’t know how trust can be restored while people walk free after committing murder. Shouldent matter weather it’s aoc, hrc, fbi, Leo, cancer, capricorn, black, white, blue, purple, green, young, old, ect. Ect.

I think it was a good shoot. The homeowner was clearly a threat in her own home. To herself, and others. Even if she was just minding her own business. She may have hurt somebody in the past, or future.

From what I have gathered, he is guilty as Sin and needs a new line of work when he gets out of prison, however, I have not heard nor seen all of the evidence and will withhold judgement until I see it all.
I am not holding my breath as to when that will be or even if we see and hear the Truth.
I doubt we ever hear or see it all.

Im guessing he resigned in the hopes that he is found not guilty so he can reapply to a different department. Former LEO here, and even from my viewpoint it seems LEOs have been too trigger finger happy these past few years.

If they walk it back later, the optics are still gonna be not good cause it seems they are leading with "officer perceived a threat". Claiming accident later is worse in this instance.

In one of the body cam video frames you can see a super bright reflection (presumably from his pistol light) on one of the window's panes of glass.
Now I know that what the camera sees isn't necessarily what the eyes see, but we all know that it's impossible to see through a glass window when a dazzling reflection is coming right from it.

I trained as a Paramedic with LA City Fire, in East LA. Met some solid LEO troops, and some piss poor ones in some really bad situations. Most were pretty good Officers of the law, but some were piss poor in a firefight. More than once, called to take care of some pendejo, who'd had the crap kicked out of him, with the Cop, off to one side being counseled sternly by a LT, or shift supervisor. Never heard the outcome. All comes out in the wash, I guess.

From the time he issued commands to the time he shot, it tells me he was nervous as shit and had tunnelvision. Usually the trifecta is horrible marksmanship, but he didn't luck out on that being the case.
If it was a simple welfare check, did they knock on the door at all or did they just decide to encircle the house and start looking in windows and then pointing guns at anyone they saw? I still can't figure out how they ended up looking at someone, through a window, from the outside of the house with their guns drawn.

This comes from lack of proper training in the academy along with not enough time spent with a qualified FTO. There are good officers but we are retiring or changing professions because you are not allowed to discipline these idiots because the politicians don't want to hear it. The ratio of good officers is rapidly declining because it's not worth the political BS anymore.

No, in texas 19.02 of the penal code is (not verbatim) an act that you know or should know, would cause serious bodily injury or death. He should have known that when he fired through a window.

And I may be jaded by things I saw.. but I’d rather have him over there on patrol out in front (not behind me) then have him even be a prison guard in the states. This got me to thinking about that Houston shooting of the married couple in Houston. Groines was charged with murder and here 10 months later I can’t find a verdict? How long do murder cases usually take?

I am NOT LEO nor have I ever been, but have worked very closely with them for over 30 years as a wrecker driver and a Highway Maint. worker as well as a Father of a LEO with 18 years in, so I have got a dog in this fight.
I have a few friends that I am close to that are still working, as well as my son, and ALL have told me they are counting the days until they can retire, at a young age, and/or go on to something else or are thinking seriously about hanging it up now and moving to some other job within the City, County, or State they are working for now.
ALL of them Bitch to no end about the quality of the Rookies that are sent to them from the Academy to train and think some NEVER should have passed the Academy and the requirements to go through the Academy have been set so low that they are getting Shitbirds that should never have a firearm, let alone a Badge.
It is hard to fill the slots for recruits coming in so the Bean Counters just lower the standards in order to fill those slots and then you get low caliber Graduates out on the streets. Cops that never should have been there in the first place.
The answer to it all is to let the Seasoned Veteran Cops and, FTOs, Police their own ranks and get rid of those that don't qualify and never will before they pull a Fuckup like this.
Until the Blue Line Polices it's own ranks, shit like this will continue to happen and they need to get very transparent about it and not cover up wrong doing within their Depts.

I’ll go with in prison for this one. But the problems with your first two statements is That is how a lot of people try and justify unconstitutional red flag laws. We can’t just keep guns from someone who has done no wrong. We need a few things..
1st we need transparency. This is simple enough with technology already in place. We just need to ensure the public has quick timely unaltered access to footage. It’s a crime for citizens to mess with evidence. We need to ensure this applies to everyone from the top down to the bottom up. Then we need uniform requirements that armed leo feds ect are to have their camera on. This needs to be a serious issue not a slap on the wrist.
2nd we need to talk sbout training and procedures. I dealt with a surprising amount of rookie cops when I got back and out the military. The first thing I noticed were a lot were scared especially when things are not normal situations. That fear would cause them to puff out their chest and act more Authoritive. This just makes situations worse and guarantees rights are gonna be violated. No one should ever be subjected to a felony stop for a speeding ticket like I have been. I had a surprising amount of rookie cops pull guns on me my first few years back. It was always a seasoned cop that would show up and “defuse” the situation. Sometimes even scolding the rookie while I was still in earshot. I see this “training” of take charge of every situation showing up in all these police shooting situations.. this one, a guy yelling orders at a lady in her house and possibly not even armed while he is standing in her backyard. The Dallas incident with the woman who walks into the wrong house and proceeds to yell orders before firing at someone sitting or crouching in their house. The hotel hallway shooting. The Leroy ficum shooting and the extensive and prolonged shooting at and around the vehicle in a attempt to flush the survivors out.
3rd the lack of proper first aid treatment. We don’t yet know in this situation as camera footage has not been released but we have video footage of when that kid was shot in a park by a cop and for over 4 minutes he laid out dying and the cops on scene were more concerned with tackling his sister to the ground then applying first aid. The Dallas female that shot the guy in his apartment claims she provided first aid but lots of evidence came out to the general public that refutes that.
4th the coverup. Police shootings need someone other than police doing the investigation. In this case it was a reporter that first revealed to the public that the window was in the back yard behind a fence. In the case of the Houston no knock murder a independent investigation after the police conducted theirs still found bullets and teeth. They also found Incorrect statements and missing ”evidence” like the gun. Groines had a bad habit of claiming a gun was there to get a no knock warrant but it appears he never actually turned any in as evidence. If your a decent Leo and believe in the constitution then you realize we need these things. You know we need trust. Trust is a two way street. Policing your own needs to be done. Results should be in public so John q. Can see that it is happening and that good cops have had enough.
And if that doesnt happen it may lead to this, and not by Cartels. Ive heard it second or third hand, suggested.

I’ll add that since the aftermath of the Michael Brown incident, community support has been extremely high. It’s rare I go a single shift without someone thanking me. I don’t need or want it, that’s just what’s happening. That’s true for big cities in SoCal with millions of people, to the mountain resort town I’m in now.
Me and the guys were discussing this incident in briefing today. Doesn’t seem like a good shoot to me, and none of my co-workers saw any different. Everyone agreed that if you’re going in to this situation with no announcement, this is going to be one of the potential outcomes. By that I mean confronted by a homeowner who’s lawfully armed. Better to announce yourself loudly and wait for the homeowner/resident, or a fleeing bad guy, and act accordingly.

Pretty dumb of HER walking around with a gun in her hand with the lights on silhouetting her to whoever was outside. Still she was legally justified and he still should not have shot into the house for any reason.
