I recently purchased and shot a load pack from Copper Creek and wanted to post my results for others to come across when researching them.

Intro

  • Ammo
    • Load pack 1 which compares the same bullet at the same seating depth, but with incremental charge increases (unknown %)
    • $119 shipped for 25 rounds that come in a hard 50 round ammo box
    • 140 Berger Elite Hunter in LRP Lapua brass
  • I went this route since I am out of state and away from my reloading gear, and just got the rifle together

Items Used
  • Rifle
    • Custom 18" 6.5 creedmoor Patriot Valley Osprey
    • Origin action
    • Manners pro hunter
    • Zeiss LRP S3
    • Omega 300 suppressor
  • Garmin Xero C1 Pro

Results

Color (charge)# of RoundsGroup size (MOA)SDESAVG
Red51.0085.916.82499.8
Blue51.0418.952.92507
Green50.86818.543.32564.4
Purple40.7925.814.92597.4
Black50.47313.240.92631.5

The first thing to call out is that I had one of the purple rounds not go off. The primer strike looks fine but no dice. The rest of the results were okay, but the point of getting a load pack like this is to test each color and see what your rifle likes. Based on the results, black is by far the best for my rifle both with group and speed. Brass and primers did not show signs of pressure except 1-2 rounds in the blue group had a noticeably heavier bolt lift, but nothing crazy.

Conclusion

At $119 shipped to my door, its expensive. That being said I think it fits my use case. It's very disappointing that 1 round failed to fire (almost $5 wasted), I will contact copper creek to see how they handle that issue. I will likely get more ammo from them, either new brass with the load data from the black groups, or send in my ~60 once fired Lapua brass for the same black load. I do not think I will do the second load pack that plays with seating depth as I don't have my calipers or comparator tools and do not feel like buying another set.

I will add in pictures of the groups that have the color in the overlay and what the rounds look like.

I bought a hundred 140eld loaded creedmore rounds from them off some dude in the px. Very nicely loaded. Everything very consistent. I think my sd was around 2 over 10 shots. Only problem was the velocity was mid 2600s. My normal load is 2830. I pulled the bullets, kept the mystery powder, and reloaded with my normal load. It was a good deal for me and still saved money on components. Morale of the story is to roll your own and maximize performance.

This is a nice option to have. Thanks for bringing it up.

I usually think the 6.5 Creedmoor with a 140 grain bullet should have a velocity of 2700 to 2800 fps, but you noted your barrel length of 18" so that explains the velocity you measured.

If you send back the once fired brass to have them load up the "black" load, I wonder if they'll reduce the powder charge to account for the resized brass potentially being a slightly different case capacity than the new brass.

Yeah I’m not sure if they’ll adjust or not. They do note that they bump the shoulder .002 And trim if needed. I think I’ll just get 40-60 rounds in new brass since there is a setup fee if you send them less than 100 rounds to load. That should get me through some additional shooting and spring bear season.

I’ll then have about 150 pieces of lapua brass that I can do my own load dev with
