Corona and ammo run and shortages

Seriously: Why the run on TP? This is not a diarrhea outbreak...I don't get it.

Ever had to wipe your ass with a finger?

Here I sit with all this vapor,
the guy before me used all the paper.
I here the bell I must not linger,
look out asshole here comes my finger.

Outhouse Poem:
Some people come here to shit and stink,
Others come here to sit and think,
I just come here to scratch my balls and read the poetry on the walls.

This a riot to look at and read.... I have 2000 rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor, 4000 rounds of .223, 800 rounds of 12 ga 00, 600 rounds of 44 mag, 1200 rounds of 9mm.... and I feel woefully under stocked for what I fear is coming.... and I reload on top of that.... this would be a riot of laughter if it wasn't so shocking
That's all? *AJ shaking his head*

Stocked up on Liquor... kids are off school for 4 weeks. Need to keep a happy house with the wife.

Stopped in at Fin Feather and Fur today to pick up some bullets and there was an abnormal amount of people buying guns. Gonna guess around 10 guys. But damm, it was 11am on a weekday. Plenty of ammo on the shelf though

4 weeks??? We’re down for two. However, day care is urged to be open. Will someone please explain this logic???

That might last a weekend or two, better start buying.

Ohio closed schools for 3 weeks and our Distric is still going to observe the scheduled spring break. On top of that , all their sports are shut down .

Gonna make the best of it. Hang with with the Fam.

Internet prices are going up, prime 6.5 creed went up $50/case. sgammo is running out of stock. Brownells is running out of stock. Nutnfancy vid a friend sent me called ammogedon had a store manager read outloud a notice he received stating pistol ammo orders are going to start being fulfilled in 90+ days. This is it boys, election panic prices are kicking off early thanks to the kung flu.

1. Children are the least at risk, close to not at risk. (Save novaxers)

2. Many in the medical industry, JR nursing staff, EMTs, etc are of the cohort who have young children incapable of long term self support.

Close these programs, parents have to stay home from work. Hospitals/EMS staffing will suffer. Not a good plan in a pandemic’esque environment.

Since kids are basically a non issue for the virus, keeping them in school/daycare allows parents to continue mission. Not everyone has the luxury of teleworking, and those of us that do, know we can’t get shit done with one or more <5yo’s running amuck.

The $630/wk we would save in daycare costs would help offset he loss in productivity.

I figured that I could also help my buddies who didnt think through the election cycle. Who knew?! The plan was to have 3-4 years worth of ammo for my use... This way I wouldnt need to start up the 650XL for awhile,

I will say the 375 was something I hand loaded a long time ago. I don’t think Speer is making those 300Gr tungsten core “dangerous game” bullets anymore. Been slowly parsing them out to my buddies that are hunting Moose / Elk... though they are total overkill unless its a rhino, tiger, elephant, (insert something charging your ass),

WOW... I knew I was understocked... wow.... guess who is first on the confiscation list? LOL... just kidding, you are well positioned and have enough to trade with if it ever gets to that point

Went to my local indoor range and he has 8lb jugs of powder , primers and some bullets . I picked up a thousand Wincbester large pistol primers for $32 . Unfortunately he didn't have any .45 bullets .

understood.... my AT loves the Hornady ELD M round far beyond any other.... each rifle can be worlds different in what it prefers

My AT does well with the Hornady ELD-M but it shoots PRIME and Berger 130s like nothing else. I don't have the original barrel though.

If you have never tried the American Gunner 140 BTHP that Hornady makes, you should. My AT loves that and I really see little difference between it and ELD-M at ranges inside 700-800 yards

That’s actually the reason I did all that… I remember 2011 and how crazy shit went. So I stocked up so that I had plenty to trade when and if I need stuff

Welp, the ammo buy-up panic escalated quickly...LoL.

Stocks are wayyyyy down. At least for many of the common self defense rounds...oh and 22LR.

Lets see how suppliers recover.

What ammo shortage?

Just a suggestion...do what you can to built up a quantity of ammo for each caliber you shoot. I shoot: 22LR, 5.56, .308, 12 guage, 9mm. Determine what your "comfort level" is in each caliber. Maintain that level by replenishing each time you shoot. I never let my "minimum" quantities drop below my "comfort level."

It's worth it.

I got burned in previous politically-based panic cycles and learned my lesson quite a long while ago.

:)

Since Trump got elected, I’ve been buying factory ammo at a much greater rate than I shoot it. I knew full well that it would never be cheaper and the demand will always be there. It doesn’t take much to drive the price up.

Sort of related but been reading that body armor sales are way up (suburbanites getting geared-up?)...along with firearms (of course).

In most cases are up to a 1 month lead time for like l3 from Spartan just as an example.

Seems to be plenty of mags avaialable though....for now LoL. Might want to get a few if ya need.

The one that affects precision rifle shooters on a precision rifle forum because we don’t shoot muskets with a max range of 9 yards or scavenge auto bone yards for lead.

Many of us shoot handguns also or have a handgun for backup. It felt pretty good to go to the range every week during the last big shortage while lots of others were staying home and crying about not having components.

Local Sportsmans has signs up restricting ammo to 1 bulk box per caliber or three normal boxes per caliber, per person. Guns are limited to 2 pistols a day and 1 "modern sporting rifle AR/AK"....... never seen that before in Alaska. So much insane panic over the flu. I could see things being different if there were reports of zombies.....

I always have at least a case of bourbon in my ready room, not counting what’s in my liquor cabinet. Wife has about 4 cases of wine, so that and a very full chest freezer full of beef and game. As long as it’s only two weeks, we are good. Past that and I’d start to worry.

Today, for shits and giggles, I dropped into the LGS (a big one). It was BUSY. For the first time I've ever seen at the store, they had a roped-off area with a sign at the head, "Line starts here." When I was there, there was only one guy "in line." But, the sales counters were full of people and sales clerks.

From the looks of things, and the conversations I could hear, there were a lot of newbie first-timers. I chatted with some other customers. One told me that yesterday was even busier than today.

The range was FULL.

There were plenty of guns in stock, though.

You can't get toilet paper, but they're not sold out of guns.... YET! :D

My boys are about to discover that "making the best of it" involves a lot of shop cleaning.

In all seriousness, this is a fairly unique opportunity and I foresee some father-son time spent around the reloading bench.
