Apologies in advance if this is common knowledge, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in the CDG discussions.

As a lifetime reloader, I have always been using bolt lift effort and ejector swipe marks (on the case head) as early pressure indicators when working up new loads.

Does the pivoting handle and mechanical ejector (lesser so) of the CDG action prevent me from using these methods, or are there still other obvious indicators regardless of these novel design changes?

Inquiring purchaser wants to know . . .

    Thanks

The narrow slot in the bolt face for the blade ejector isn't as prone to brass flow as a plunger ejector and isn't a good indicator of pressure until you get *way* up there in my experience, but a draggy bolt lift is still a reliable indicator. With the pivoting handle installed there's no extraction cam at the top of the bolt lift so you can easily feel bolt lift drag and sticky cases.

Regardless of action, short of a strain gauged barrel IMO it's always more reliable using a blade micrometer to measure case head expansion at the 0.200 line on the brass as the primary indication of excessive pressure and a draggy bolt lift as a secondary confirmation to see if you're pushing things too far.
