Couple of questions re: reloads in new chamber

I am about ready to load up some rounds for my new 7mm. The once fired brass I resized fit nicely in the chamber, new brass is "loose" so I assume they will form when fired. Since the chamber is new and custom cut, I would like to load up some misc 140 gr and 160gr hunting bullets over listed charges of H4831 just to form the brass to the chamber and to break in the barrel. So, is this the way to go about forming the brass, and it is any big deal using up those bullets just to break in the barrel?
Just trying not to use up what little R22 I have and waste the Amaxes on break in.

Thanks

Well, here we go again with the break in process. Everyone is different on this issue. IMHO, if you have extra ammo, time, patience, then by all means. Otherwise, just zero it, and shoot it. Even the 140 or the 160 grains cost money, so why waste it. As I said, everyone is different.

I knew that would come up. I know, I have read opinions both ways. I am following what the barrel maker recommends. Either way the bullets need to get used as neither will be included for my primary loads.

Just curiosity, what type of barrel do you have? Like I said, I just hate to waste bullets, powders and primers, especially during time like this. Don't forget to post your range report.

Its a Krieger. I hate to waste what I have as well. Part of it is to better form the brass to the chamber since it varies slightly from a factory spec.

You might try the method using a little powder with cream of wheat and a piece of tape to hold it in. It works pretty well for forming brass, and you only burn some primers and a bit of powder then.

Any particular flavor? I like mine kinda thick. Should I make it that way or thin like the box says

Interesting. I would think the tape would make a mess of things.

I use a charge of Bullseye powder (12 grains in 338 Win Mag)Put about a 1/4 sheet of toilet paper over the powder. Fill with corn meal and plug the neck with paraffin.

Fire them in the rifle, clean barrel and load as usual. BE is cheap and corn meal is a lot cheaper than bullets. Plus you are able to work up loads as you break in the barrel with fitted cases.
