I was referring to the 90 percent efficacy being unexpected, they were projecting 50-60 percent, and that would have been enough for approval.
Agreed, the timing of the announcement is very suspect; Trump was pushing for this announcement before Election Day.

Yeah the big question is what happens if and when this virus mutates.
I believe they do have the capacity to adjust it accordingly, similar to the flu, but all of that is yet to be seen.

That’s not how it works. Adverse events are different and is the primary focus of these studies, together with efficacy. If there were many of them, it would not be approved.

I'm going to state the obvious as a reminder. Even if the vaccine was 100% effective and every person in the world took it, COVID tests would continue to show positive results for the rest of time.

The language being used around COVID vaccination has setup the expectation that getting vaccinated is equivalent to putting on a bio hazard suit. It will somehow prevent COVID from ever getting into your body. Vaccinated people will still be asymptomatic, which is no different than the current situation.
