I want to start coyote hunting at night but I have limited gear for it, I would eventually like to get into NV or thermal but at this point its out of the cards. What are the basics of hunting at night with lights and is there a specific lumen or range I should be looking for. I have tried looking for some info on this but cannot seem to find much on it. SCHOOL ME!

Thanks in advance!

If you are using a light, red my choice, keep it moving. If you hold it on them they will get antsy. Light on em, keep it in the edge of the light, halo, not the center. light them up fully when they are in range, just before you shoot.
I like red because I believe they don't see it as well. Walking my dogs at night and I light up a rabbit in the yard they don't notice them. White light game on. My wife had a coyote shadowing her and the dog didn't see it when she had my red light. My two cents.
I just bought a Sightmark Wraith for 400 bucks. Neat toy and I am happy with it for a cheap option out to 350-400 yds. Night season almost over here so I won't have much good feedback till next fall. Good luck.

Check out the sniper hog light 66lrx gun hunters kit. It’s a lot for the money and it comes with everything you need for multiple applications. Get it with a red and white light to see what works best for you. I’ve been rocking it for awhile and it has great distance if needed but also dials down for low Intensity. Priced very fair and you can add the tail cap dimmer if you think you would like it but might as well. Good luck
