I went out sledding with my dogs last week, and these tracks caught my eye. I came back a little while later with the camera and a measuring tape to get some pictures. I don't know much about coyotes, except that we have some around. My main concern is that at one point the tracks followed the tracks of our cat, and I'm not a big fan of that. Anyway, you guys who hunt coyotes, what do you think?

My dogs' tracks are for sure to the left of the tape measure from the 1 1/4" to the 5" and on the right side of the tape from 13 1/2" to 16 1/2" (I have 2 dogs). I don't know about the other tracks.

Re: Coyote Tracks?

I don't have a decent rifle (.22 only for now) for coyotes, but I do have a friend that's about a mile down the road who enjoys his .204 and likes skins. Maybe I'll give him a call. If we end up with anything, I'll get some pics up.

Re: Coyote Tracks?

12ga with 4 buck is the go to combo for a lot of coyote hunters around here - virtually all the guys who hunt them with hounds. They all save the pelts - more fur friendly than most rifle rounds you hunt them with.
