I know that alot of people use the RemAge barrel system for Remington take-off action, but does anyone have any first-hand experience using a custom action with a RemAge setup? Looking at pre-chambered sticks from NSS and Xcaliber, and it just seems like a good idea, even with a custom action like Surgeon/Defiance/Bighorn. I know 'switch barrel' setups are the hot new thing, but is there any reason why a RemAge stick wouldn't work just as well?

I don't think the actions you listed have the same thread dimensions as a Remington, so a Remage wouldn't work.

I think Stiller makes receivers with the same thread dimensions as a Remington so a Remage may work for that.

As long as the thread pitch/diameter is the same it should work fine. I've used Savage prefits in my ARC M5 which is the exact same thing just different threads with great results.

The reason I think the Bighorn TL3 is an ideal switch barrel/prefit action is because of the inexpensive, easy to swap bolt heads. Swap barrels in a matter of minutes with a barrel vise and rear entry action wrench.

I've got a Pac-Nor 221 barrel on a Stiller Predator in Rem-age setup.

Then I've got a X caliber 284 Winchester barrel on a Bighorn TL2.

And also a Blackhole Weaponry 6x45 barrel on a Bighorn SL2.

I use CBI prefits on my Shilen DGR action. Can't think of anything I don't like about it. I have 6.5x47, .308, and 22-250 barrels. They are as good as any barrel I have ever used, which includes Hart, Douglas, Krieger, Brux and Bartlein. The DGR action is made by Stiller for Shilen. Essentially a Predator with a Savage-like floating bolt head. May be the most action for the $ out there.
