Is it possible to measure yourself for the perfect stock fit? I currently own a LTR, which I bought sight unseen on the internet, and it feels like the stock is too small for me. I feel cramped in the prone position...I have had to shim my cheek pad with pipe insulation...and only two of my fingers fit on the grip. This was my first bolt gun and really didn't know much about what I was doing. I don't have access to different stocks to try in my area. I was hoping there was a way to improve my situation by use of a tape and the internet. Thanks.

Re: Custom Fit Stock Question

What is your 'area' exactly?

Factor in LOP (length of pull) and a adjustable cheekpiece into your next purchase.

* LOP is measured from the trigger shoe to the butt of the stock, I'm guessing the LTR is 12-13 inches. My A5 is comfortable at almost 14.25"

If I'm not mistaken, holding the rifle with the firing hand, the butt should sit right in the elbow joint with your hand at a comfortable firing position.

Guys with the fancy stocks aren't entering them in beauty competitions or popularity contests, there is a mountain of function behind the form when it comes to rifle stock design.
