Anybody know of a company that can mfg custom reticles for scopes? I know the basic machine to etch the glass is expensive so I would think there might be someone out there that is doing custom work for others to keep their machine busy.

Re: Custom Reticle Maker

Are you looking for someone to do a custom reticle for yourself, or a business venture?

USO will cut one for a price. Only company I know of.

Premier hasn't touched at Leupold scope in at least 5 years... they have their own line.

Re: Custom Reticle Maker

my thoughts are that a photographic mask is made then etched, then tested for results, if not correct then another is made ...etc till the proportions are exact....the process is the one that is expensive and possibly the franchise to the reticule designer......as told to me some years back, it is all hit or miss

Re: Custom Reticle Maker

There is an old railroad track down in my home town that I've measured off to 500 yards in increments of 50 yards. Went to Home Depot and bought some brass house number numbers and screwed them down on the cross ties.

Took the 7mm Mag. and shot 3 round groups at each yardage. Measured them from a nominal 200 yd. zero and sent the info to Premier.

What I got back was simply astounding!!!

1st shot, cold bore at 500 was 2 inches right and 3 inches low.

1 click in each direction and all was good.

Re: Custom Reticle Maker

There is more too it than what meets the eye. You will need to know the diameter of the lens and based upon the optical system being used what the mm=moa is on the surface you will be etching.

Re: Custom Reticle Maker

The design and getting a one of we can do but we only do it for our scopes. You must know the magnification and a lot of other optical design issues of the scope you are tyring to put it in or else you will end up with a waste of money.
We have a sheet I can email you if you PM me, This sheet asks pertainent questions a reticle designer will need to know in order to make a one of.
Again though we only can do it for the scopes we make as we know all the optical parameters on these models and we have our CAD system set up for these.
PM me if you are interested and I can work up and estimate for you.
Thanks,
Paul

Thanks LL. We can make the reticles for you if you like, for our scope it isn't a problem, but if you want it made for another manufacturers optical system, we will need to have a drawing from the manufacturer on their sizing.

We charge $1000 for the design, mask(tooling) and a few sample reticles. Delivery time is approximately 60 days from the time I get your art work.
