Buying a CZ in 17hmr for shooting fun, but mostly it is going to be a working gun for clearing Nutria and other pest from my hunting estate in off season. With that said, is there any advantages for the bull barrel in this configuration (35% target/range 65% pest control) Accessories ? True Performance? If it becomes a project gun later for more target than hunting will one of them prevail?

Everything I have read up on this subject just looks like cock waving, figured this would be the best place to find out the best facts.

I have 3 flavors of CZ 455 17 hmr.
All pillared, bedded and barrel bedded.
The American (sporter barrel slim/tapered)
Varmint (bull barrel) and Lilja (bull barrel).

Both the factory barrels required almost 500 rounds
down the bore, and barrel shimming in the wood factory stocks,
before groups became consistent. Out of the box the CZ
sporter barrel produced 1.5 moa. After break in, it produces 1 moa.
The Varmint barrel was a 2 moa barrel new, now, after almost 450
rounds through it, it's finally a consistent 1 moa barrel.
The Lilja barrel was sub-moa from day one. No break in period.
That alone saved a brick of 17 hmr ammo or about $125.
Off a bipod it'll produce 1 inch groups at 100 yards on a calm day.
Off a rest, not unusual to see 3/8 inch groups appear at 100 yds.

Best ammo has been Hornady 17 gr V-Max for range use,
CCI 20 gr fmj for hunting for the table, and 17 gr ballistic tips
for varmint control. The ballistic tips produce meat spray.

With the price of CCI SV 22lr at 26 cents a round, last I looked,
it's cheaper to take my hmmer's to the range than my 22lr's.
I'm having no problem finding 17 hmr at 22 cents a round, shipped.

I also have the CZ bull barrel 22 wmr.
At 50 yards, it produces 3/8 to 3/4 inch groups.
More thump, than the 17 hmr, for larger critters.
