so i really want to build a 452 varmint. keep hearing how they are excellent shooters out of the box. Cabela's has one, but its not a varmint. I would probably change barrels anyway, do a trigger job, and i want to put it in a AI chassis. Problem is, i looked on AI's site and couldn't find a chassis for a .22, and where can i get a barrel from?

ai doesnt make a chassis as far as i know of for a 22. Thus being why i made my own ai, look 3 topics down, my girlfriends new 17hmr thread.

I have a 452 american that shoots lights out. I like the stock trigger, the initial take up is almost like a 2 stage trigger. It's consistent and the break is clean.

If you like the AICS stock then you should get a 40-X in 22LR. Then you don't have to modify anything. There are lots of people already with that setup. I had one in an OD AICS 1.5 and one in a Black AICS 2.0 before.

If you're already looking to change the barrel without having the rifle yet, then look at the CZ 455 series rifles. That line is designed with an easily removeable barrel. Lilja has been working on a replacement barrel for them too, and should have it released within the next month or two.
