CZ 557 Varmint in .308 owners.

They kind of fit a weird niche… sorta target/competition focused (DBM, vertical grip, fast twist, heavy barrel), but are built more like a hunting rifle (no barrel threads, proprietary mags, rounded foreend, 11mm dovetail scope mounts)…

Shot fine but never felt like I could find a good use for it. Ended up selling it to a buddy and do miss it from time to time. Wouldn’t go out of my way to buy another though.

If it offers what you’re looking for, go for it.

Yes, it is heavy . There is alot of wood on this thing . First thing I did was order a bolt on muzzle brake. To tame the kick even more. Went to the range with it fresh out of the box. With 146 grain army surplus ball ammo. Put the first 5 in one hole at 100 yards no clover leaf just one hole. It is a tack driver. With the right ammo.

Well, I worked up a good load for my ar 10 in 308 ended up with 168 gr. A max win. Brass win. Primers and 42 gr. 3031 . So, I tried it in the cz 557 V. Got 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards . 😳
