Ok so I am still in my exhausting search for a good bolt action 22, and I am pretty set on a cz, probably a varmint, but I can't decide between the 455 and 453. I wish I could just get a 452, but I feel those will be very hard to get soon. I do not have any real need for the set trigger, but I don't need or want the interchangeable barrels either. My main consern is accuracy, and then maybe a good trigger, I believe everything else should already be taken care of by going with a cz. So which one would be best for me? Mostly plinking/target shooting and some hunting...
Thanks in advance for your cooperation

Re: Cz help

I have seen that one and am considering it, and your right, I am probably not looking hard enough. Now I am just curious, what are the pros and cons for the three types? Is the 455 still better than the 452 even considering the change in build (with the barrel change)? Is it still worth it if I don't change the barrels?
Thanks

Re: Cz help

Having the 452 and 455 I think the 452 is a bit better finished from the factory.

The 455 is a bit more adaptable if you want to change barrels and calibers. I dont change calibers but I did install a Lilja and its pretty dang accurate.

For me the lack of aftermarket stocks for the 455 is a bit irritating so the nod there goes to the 455.

Unless you want to change barrels I would go for the 452 and they are available just have to look around.

Re: Cz help

I say get a 452 while you still can. I loved my Varmint HM2 before I sold her to get an American HM2.. Now I own four Americans, one in each caliber. I absolutely love the feel and finish of the Czech beauties.

If you can't get a 452, I say go with the 453. If you don't want to use the set trigger, don't. I skipped the 455 barrel swap idea because, well frankly, I would prefer to have a separate rifle for each of those barrels! Plus, when I started getting my CZs, the 455 hadn't proven enough to be a better idea than the 452.

I say get the 452 while you still can...if not, get a 453!

I have a CZ 452 Varmint and my shooting partner has a 453 . I have shot mine alot more so the trigger has smoothed out more but I really don't care for the 453's trigger . It feels pretty lousy to me . When 'set' it is light but otherwise it isn't nearly as good as the 452's . I cut 1 3/4 coils off the factory spring and pull weight is a little under 2 lbs . I wouldn't mind the new 455 in the Manners stock but doubt it will shoot any better than my 452 Varmint . I don't have a 455 so can't swear to it .

Bud's has a 452 American, 16" with threaded barrel for $403 shipped. It's hard to beat this deal.

Buds CZ 452

Re: Cz help

Ok thanks everyone, I checked out the 16" threaded, but I have no need for a suppressor, so I think 16 is alittle short for my liking... I will check out whittakers thanks for the link! And rimfire central is a great resource! Does anyone know if buds is planing on having more 452s? I feel like they are trying to move on, but I will email them just incase, tell me if you know of any other places with 452s instock.
Thanks for all the help everyone!
