CZ Rifles

What's the consensus on CZ? I just picked up one of their magazines and they offer some intriguing rifles...thoughts?

p.s. I'm primarily interested in picking up a .22lr - but, their .308 & .338 also have my interest.

The three CZ's rim fires I've shot were all very accurate , definitely worth the cost.
my personal rifle is the older 455 varmint that I cut the barrel down to 16" and threaded for a suppressor.
Its probably the "funnest" rifle I shoot.

I have a CZ 452 (22lr with heavy barrel). Very accurate. I bobbed it to 18" and threaded it for a suppressor. Great rifle.

Other CZ I own is a 527. It's the 7.62x39 with 18" barrel, iron sights and beautiful Turkish walnut stock. Fun rifle to shoot. Love it.

I think CZ is a great value for the money.

I used to own one. A CZ 550 Full Stock in 6.5x55. It was built like a tank and very accurate.

Still kicking myself for selling it.

It had a 20.5" barrel and would shoot the 120's about 2900 fps. It was a deadly little woods rifle.

Can't speak for the other models, but I liked mine a bunch.

Did I mention I was a dumb-ass for selling it?

I'd wanted one of their 22RF rifles for years - until the CMP started selling all those old Rem 40XRF & Win M52s. Shot my wad buying several of each, which kinda cooled my jets on getting a CZ.

But I got the hots to build myself a miniature CF bolt rifle in 6RAT, and since I couldn't find an affordable Sako rifle in PPC for a donor action, I went with a CZ527 and was pleased to use the OEM stock, since it's a very nice piece of Turkish walnut. It made a very nice little rifle; wouldn't mind having an excuse to purchase another CZ....

I have a CZ 527 varmint with the kevlar stock in 223 and i love it. it will shoot 5 rounds at 100 yards under 1/4" with 40gr vmax and 68gr hornady BTHP hand loads.

I picked up my CZ 527 Varmint in 204 Ruger from the Bass Pro Shops in Northfield. If they don't have any in stock, they should be able to get one for ya.

I have a 550 6.5x55 and a 452 ZKM.
The 550 inletting wasn't perfect and it was "bedded" with a couple dabs of glue in the corners of the recoil lug mortise.
I rebedded with marine tex and hogged out where the bolt handle was touching.
Sub MOA shooter, great trigger but I could do without the proprietary rings.

The 452 is on loan to a friend with a pigeon problem.
I've shot just about everything worth shooting in PA with mine.
Good iron sights, points like a good shotgun and feeds like a champ.
Down side is that it's a little awkward scoped because of the stock being set up for the irons and the safety is backwards from what I'd like.
Very accurate rifle, my longest shot was 124 yards on a groundhog with subsonic ammo.
Speaking of which, with the long barrel it's really quiet with subsonic ammo.
Especially RWS subsonic HP.
The best killing bullet I've used in it is the CCI subsonic segmented HP.


I had a 527 in 204 that was nice and my friend had a 550 Varmint in 308 that shot tiny, tiny groups with 178 AMAXs.
They were a steal before the Czech Republic joined the EU.

I've always wanted to build a 550 with a McMillan McHale stock, but have been leary because of the lack of pic rails, triggers, and the cost of the CZ 10 round mags, but it is on my bucket list.

Every one I've fondled at the gun store has been smooth and felt like it was a tank construction wise.

i picked up one of the CZ 455 combo set ups (22lr and 17hmr). also got the 22lr Lux barrel with the iron sights. love plinking the gopher silhouettes at 100yds at the range with the iron sights. recently put a Nikon EFR 3-9x40 scope on it and zeroed in the 17hmr barrel. thing is ridiculously accurate, just need to pay attention to the wind once your shooting past about 50yds.

Davidsons has a bunch in stock and I just ordered a 455 Varmiter in 22LR. I passed on the EVO version cause of the strange stock.
At this mornings perusal of the web sight, they had 16 Military Trainers, 5 Varmit and 10 Varmit Evolutions on hand.
Been wanting one of these for quite awhile. Should show up in LGS by Wednesday. I'll head to the range friday if my rings get in on time.

I have a CZ 700 M1. Slightly unusual, rear lugged precision rifle that was briefly imported. Excellent quality and creepy accurate.

CZ 452 American .22 LR Varmint profile it's an heirloom quality rifle... Would love to have one of the center fire models.

I have two of the cz 455's. Love them. My buddies loved them as well and got their own. Accurate. Flexible options to keep you from getting bored with it as well. I have the evolution and a sst with fluted barrel. I also have 17hmr barrel that can be changed in less than 5 mins with 4 bolts. My zero stays on paper with barrel switch and is zeroed in 2 rounds. You can upgrade the barrels to Lilja if you want more accuracy (another hide member,justinamateur, has done a lot of cool work and research on his). I also have a threaded 22 barrel as well. As a general rule with mine...you can snipe dimes at 50yds and quarters at 100 yds pretty easily with eley orange box or lapua center x subsonic ammo. My buddy and I got a little creative with his. We got the cheap one with synthetic stock for just under 400. We then ordered another laminated stock from Boyd's and had them laser engrave a grim reaper on it. Nobody has one like his. He also got a threaded barrel and uses it with suppressor to quietly dispose of pests around the house. They are great little rifles! Agree that they are heirloom quality as well. Anschultz will be more accurate (and more expensive) if u want to go that route but the 455 is pretty close and full of options

bought a CZ452 scout for my kid when he was 5, I have a CZ 500 varmint in .308, love the rigs. wish they still sold SA receivers by themselves.

I have a CZ 452 American with a can on the end and it is great. The wife has claimed that one. I just purchased a 455 Trainer with the manners stock. I put a .17 HMR barrel on it and it is a laser beam. I cannot speak to their center fire offerings, but you cant go wrong with their rim fires. BTW go AVS!!
