Got the precision trainer with bull barrell.

Thinking of doing a build.

I'm wondering if the Lilja barrell is really all that much better than teh factory CZ barrell?

Trying to decide if I get the XLR Chassis first, or the Lilja barrell and run it with the original Manners stock....

Edit to add:

OKay.... I shoulda mentioned.....

Already got a Timney in it. Already Identified Wolf Extra match as best. Factory barrel shoots prolly 0.3 - 0.4" c-t-c at 25 yards. Almost all the holes touching.... not quite one ragged hole

Lilja gonna do measurably better than that? ALL I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IS.... "FACTORY BARREL VS. LILJA" Thanx ! [IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"http:\/\/cdn.cz-usa.com\/hammer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/cz-usa-cz-455-varmint-precision-trainer-500x333.png"}[/IMG2]

Since you paid extra for the precision trainer over a base model, I would recommend you start with just trying to shoot it. You might want to look at a trigger upgrade. If it doesn't shoot, then look at the Lilja barrel. The manners stock should give you everything you need if you like that style. Good luck.

I gotta laugh.....

I've already got a Timney trigger in it.

I've already identified that Wolf Extra Match shoots best out of over a dozen match grade ammos tested.

You'll note the question is NOT regaridng any of that.... but how the Lilja and factory barrels compare. :)

I guess I shoulda been clearer.... here's "louder" -

HOW DO THE STOCK AND LILJA BARRELS COMPARE?????? :)

Thanx.... THIS is more what I was needing to know.

Wondering if I should get the shorty 16" barrell for shooting supressed, or the full 22" .....

I went with 16.5" threaded, I shoot it suppressed 99% of the time. No velocity improments with the longer barrel, my thought is get the bullet out of there as fast as possible before I move and throw the shot LOL.

Mine in the Manners liked the front screw torqued to 32 in lbs and the back screw to 28. That Manners, while probably not as good of construction as a standard T4, is a pretty nice stock for a .22 trainer. I'd torque the screws in the chassis higher than the Manners. There was a pretty big difference in size of groups between 15-18 in lbs and 32 with mine.

Running a YoDave spring and getting 1.5lb trigger pull. I shoot Wolf Match out of my 16.5" VPT and get 3/4" 5-shot groups at 100yds consistently. Decided not to rebarrel because of diminishing return.

To answer your question, yes the lilja barrel will be far superior in craftsmanship and varying amounts in accuracy. Only you can decide if it's "worth" the 400 bucks entry fee. What are your desired accuracy goals? Is this intended to be a match gun or just paper and steel with midgrade ammo? Personally speaking I would exhaust every possible Avenue with the CZ factory stick before considering an aftermarket drop in barrel. Some factory CZ's shoot exceptionally well after a little due diligence. So unless my barrel was just a proven turd I have no reason for an aftermarket barrel. You've already covered ammo and bedding with the new chassis but have you toyed with the: action screws torque, grub screw torque, checked crown and head space, slugged the barrel, shimmer the barrel, modified the striker or replaced the striker spring? All of which are far less expensive than a 400 dollar barrel and several will likely improve accuracy or at the least determine if the barrel is a turd? Btw, out of curiosity how many rounds have you put through it? I'm curious as to if it's been properly seasoned. Most take about a brick or so to fully break in.

Something else to consider, if squeezing the utmost accuracy out of your 455 is the goal I'd research the benz chamber lilja has adopted for the CZ drop ins and see if that's still a route you want to take. You might find that you'd prefer having another quality barrel match chambered and properly head spaced by a competent smith.

Whichever route you go I wish you the best my man.

P.S- pictures or it didn't happen

Installed the CZ Mr. Fly Trigger in my VPT and this thing is amazing. Tried it with the two stage settings but couldn't get the stages the way I like it so I adjusted out the first stage and set the second stage to 6ozs. Had to do a lot of filing on the inlet to get the trigger to fit inside the Manners stock but it was worth it. Can't wait to shoot the next match with this trigger. I highly recommend this trigger.
