thanks
@Monk Medic ...you actually reminded me of a question of mine re: what educational materials do we leave with in terms of handouts, etc from their training courses. I got an email from someone at Dark Angel and they told me the requirements for hosting a class so that's an option as well.
Great question!
I've taken the course several times, mostly at SIG Sauer Academy, but once outside.
You leave with a nice spiral bound book, which is in essence Kerry's Powerpoint presentation, with a notes field off to the right.
You'll have the opportunity to take plenty of notes, especially as your learn and work with the med gear.
And that is one of the coolest things, the class is about 50/50 didactic and skills practice. You'll get to work with wound simulators, packing GSW with hemastatic gauze, trying various bandages, tourniquets (TQ), airway adjuncts, what vital signs mean, the various stages of shock and injury, how to quickly triage a patient, it's like a mini EMT/Medic class rolled into two days.
I always come away with as many of my own notes as I do with material in the book. I'm a big fan of keeping a training log and notebook for every training that I do. So, the short answer is, you'll have plenty of take home materials, see photos below.
I'd love to host a class here in Maine, with the things that have been in the news lately, there is a real need for getting people trained up in this knowledge and skill set. And it's applicable across all areas of life, not just on the range, medical emergencies happen everywhere, every day. I've found it so fascinating, that I made it a second career.
