Daughters AR15, Hunting use, varmints, which one??

My daughter has latched on to my Sig. 223 hunter model, hunted last winter with the rifle but wants me to find her a lite weight one that she can handle better. I thought this would be the place to ask. Her varmint hunting shots are 150 max. THANKS , Charlie 112

If you're up for building yourself, keep the barrel light profile and the handguard minimal. People add weight with quad rails they never use. I build one for my wife, just enough rail to mount a front sight if needed and mlok if more sections are needed. Very light and handy.

Its not hard to build a light rifle without spending a fortune on titanium parts. Built this one for my oldest son, light 14.5" barrel, light stock, low mass carrier and the rest is standard parts, it's 5.3lbs before optic.

The BCM LW upper is actually what I'd recommend. If you get a 16" lightweight profile with a BCM KMR hand guard it's ridiculously light, and the barrels are damn accurate too.

I'd buy their upper and spec my own lower, but that's me. AR's are ridiculously easy to assembled and doing a lower only requires a few roll pin punches a castle nut wrench, and a couple other very common tools.

For 150 yards, I honestly wouldn't hesitate to use a 10" pistol with a pencil profile barrel. That would reduce a metric crap-ton of weight off the typical m4 style 16" barreled guns..
