I was done with NASCSR when it became a $$$$ spending gear race. It’s not about the drivers or the team or even just the braggin’ rights as in the early days. It’s about the $$$ and the prizes. it’s about the “research” and the gear required to collect same. Lakes was my favourite , the factory cars were hitting over 135 mph through the trees . The current
WRC cars seem tame by comparison : you could see fear in the eyes of the drivers of the old B cars .
0-60 time is interesting : GpB Quattro under 3 seconds , current WRC VW Polo around 4 seconds .
30 years later and they still haven’t found that second ...

Actually , I agree. Too many motorsports have a shit ‘ tyre to HP ratio ‘ . More HP and less grip = more
skill required to operate , especially without ghey traction control . The analogy in field rifle comps might
be no bags at all of any kind , and 308 / 155 bullet / standard reamer like sling shooting . Can I borrow
your flame suit ? .....

I, too miss the Killer B's. And the Moto GP 500cc 2 stroke bikes that would high side you if you blinked at the wrong time. Or seize an engine just for the hell of it. Now F-1 is hybrid racing between M/B and Ferrari with the lamest ass sounding race cars I've ever heard plus now the GP bikes even know what corner they are in, whoopee! Can't wait for the IOM TT races.

NASCAR needs to go back to basing their cars on production car chassis......no more of this building a race car from scratch and slapping a plastic body on it.......if makers want to be competitive, they need to make competitive cars......

I used to watch and attend NASCAR, now I don’t even bother turning it on. I live 20 minutes from RIR and you can still buy a cheap ticket the day before the race. Never used to be that way, boring and to many rules.

While I agree with most of this, I’m still a fan of racing. While I do prefer dirt, I just try to enjoy the race, whatever it may be.

Luckily in North West Ohio I’m surrounded by great dirt tracks with sprint cars both winged and non winged, late models and other classes. But truly almost every one of those drivers is wanting to reach the highest levels of the sport. I wish I had more time to attend locally. But I’m still a fan, whatever the racing may be.
