I've spent my money in questionable ways when it comes to firearms but in no way would I ever pay $700 for an AR15 lower/upper receiver set. It does look badass though.

Interesting, probably the first Spike's lower I would consider buying, especially if they do a no logo version. Call me weird, but I've always disliked their logo.

I've never been interested in buying any Spikes products at all either. Until now of course. I'm absolutely going to ditch my Noveske lower for this. After using a Knights, AXTS and San Tan - each with the ambi controls in unique configs and built in to the receiver - I've grown accustomed to both the speed and ease with which those designs translate into. Is it worth $200? Shit, I think my wife spent that last week on pedicures. I'll take it!

To me it's not about the function. It's purely the cosmetics. I don't use my weapons for work or to protect my life with, they are for the fun factor and if I am going to the headache of sbr'ing I want something I am proud of and enjoy shooting and looking at. And for a lifetime purchase I will forget about the few hundred dollars in a year but will always regret not spending a little more if I went cheaper. My other sbr is a seekins 8" 300blkout.

Spikes makes some nice shit, I've never had anything come from them that wasn't top notch. Their SS barrels are made by Lothar Walther and their parts kits use KNS made pins and detents.

Spikes is not thought of very highly by those in the industry.

Cool looking lower, looks heavy as shit and gaudy. Good for the Swamp People & Sons of guns crowd.

How do you like the SanTan lower? They are local to me so I'm thinking about picking up one of their receiver combos for an SBR. I might be odd, but I assemble all of my rifles on Arizona made lowers.

Yeah, I've read all about it; political shit aside, their products are top quality. It probably is heavy and arguably gaudy, but it's a nice chage of pace from what everyone else is doing. The attention to detail is awesome. I could do without their name and spider all over everything though.

I love the San Tan. Very well made, great ergos. One of my favorites. Outside of all the things you can see, it has over travel adjustment and a upper rec tensioning screws machined in to the receiver as well. Both of those came in very handy. Many lowers have one or the other but out of the receivers I've used the only other receiver to incorporate both of those is AXTS. I still like the KAC's ambi controls the best just because it's much more difficult to inadvertently drop a mag with that left side release that any of the other ambis. But that said, the San Tan is a STEAL at $285 or so.

It was mentioned that it might be heavy. Lower weighs 10 1/2 oz on my kitchen scale. Not sure what a regular lower ways don have any stripped laying around.
