They are around $2800 new. I figured at this price point it’s worth a try.

Well, I don't own that particular model, but own several Dbal A3's.

The Override Port on the one you are looking at, makes it a very desirable MFAL if you understand and value what that Override Port brings to the table.

Plus that pricepoint and immediate availability in today's climate is excellent as well.

I’ll find out about the Illuminator soon. From what I have read and seen the long range setting on the A4 is close to the D2. I like the fact the A4 has a flood IR and a LR IR setting.

BTW Horta I’ll trade you this A4 for a MAWL

I just traded my D2 off and I tell ya I miss it.

the d2s illum smokes a 50mW A2 up until about 600 yards just due to the fact that the A2s illum focuses into a light sabre

Well you up on Signal Mountain so the A2 liable to come in handy if you need to send out signals.

So on a serious note are you saying you would trade that A2 for a D2.

Haha going to call down some space marines to protect me...... just traded a few weeks ago and I happen to enjoy the capability of being able to do emergency laser eye surgery with the A2

but I do miss the D2

Also the cool thing about the A2 is you can get the 80 degree optical diffuser similar to the mawl on close range mode.
